  1. Look who profitt has around him. They are loaded. I bet that if he was on Middleboro's team he wouldnt average 15 a game because teams can focus on him and single him out and double team him. He is not a gifted scorer. He is not very quick but he handles it well and is strong. Miller puts up those numbers with double teams and everything because he knows how to score. Ty is a solid high school point guard and may very well win Mr. Basketball next year because they are in a cupcake region and he already has one ring. I think Walls at scott county is better than profitt and hes only a junior. the difference is that Walls gets his teammates involved like profitt plus he can shoot better than Profitt. I played at Scott County and have played against him several times and know he can play.
  2. Profitt, like Allen, is a wonderful high school player, but will not do anything in college because of his quickness. He will play somewhere small and should do well but i think he will struggle to score wherever he decides to go to school. I bet that if you put Profitt on Middlesboro's team, that he wouldnt score the way Miller does. Profitt is not a gifted scorer, but he is all around and does a little bit of everything. I seen him against Brentwood Academy and he struggled against the more athletic team and had trouble scoring.
  3. I think that is goes to the best player who is the most valuable to his team. The player who a team cant win without. I feel like Shelby county cannot win the 8th region without Slaughter, but South Laurel can win without Allen, but Allen has better players surrounding him and the 13th region is very weak. I dont think the next level has anything to do with it when it comes to Mr. Basketball and it shouldnt because it is a high school award. Allen has the edge because he got to rupp, but if they fall this year and shelby makes a run and slaughter puts up good numbers, then it could be close. South will walk through the 13th region though.
  4. Allen is very undersized for his position, a 6"4 post player at the d-1 level. He got a taste of what to look forward to at the d-1 level when Brandon Wright blocked about 7 of his shots at the marshall county hoopfest. The crazy thing is that is the high school level. I will bet that slaughter will have a better college career than anybody coming out of this class. South Laurel struggles against very athletic teams, there three loses are to Desales, Madison Central, and Brentwood, three very athletic teams. Allen is a heck of a high school player, but he needs to develop into a wing, which will be extremely difficult because he is a very slow player, ut he does have a decent shot.
  5. Slaughter is the most talented player in the state of kentucky, hands down. He can do it all. He is athletic, can score from inside/outside, handles it very well, and it good on the defensive end. Horn didnt sign him for no reason. Think about it, Walt Allen is going where? and Slaughter is going to WKU. I think that says enough about whos the better talent. Dunaway, i am not sure who is looking at him at this point but he will play somewhere.
  6. Yes i have seen him play and have played against him. He is a very smart player and uses his body very well. He knows how to score at the High School Level. All I am saying is that he is not the most talented player in the state. He will win Mr. Basketball because they will make it this year and they won it last year and him being MVP helps out tremendously.
  7. I think walt allen will end up winning it but i really feel like he is no where near one of the most talented players in the state. He is a very solid high school basketball player, but will be mediocre at the next level. He is undersized for his position, slow, and not athletic. I am not downing him because he is a wonderful high school player but i would rather somebody else represent our state against Indiana. He is well deserving though because of what he has done for his team over his high school career. I also feel that South Cannot compete with Scott County because Scott is to athletic for them at every position.
  8. Just was wanting some thoughts on who should win this prestigious award this year. I honestly think the most talented player in the state is AJ Slaughter, but he hasnt been to the state tournament and if he goes this year then he will have a chance. Walt Allen is the leader at this point because of what he did last year at Rupp.
  9. I know jones played three years up there and made it to the finals twice so he has to be up there also because he scored at will during the state tournament.
  10. Jones was just as good if not better than Lofton during his high school career from beyond the arc. Jones definitely had a quicker release. Draud was a wonderful shooter as well.
  11. I am just wondering who are the all time leading scorers at rupp arena for all tournaments combined. I cant find this information but i am sure that richie farmer is on top
  12. Lofton is a great player and shooter, but he wouldnt put up those kind of numbers in Tubby's system because Tubby doesnt care about having shooters apparently. He is much better than Sparks though and might be a little better on defense which isnt saying much anyway. Neither one of those guys can play defense which is why tubby didnt recruit Lofton, but at the same time why did he sign sparks. He is a lot of freedom in ennessee's system and his teammates get him open. He plays with quick athletic guards who can get him the ball when they penetrate. He cant create his own show and neither can sparks, butwhen u can put it inthe basket, u have to set screens.
  13. The greatest shot without a doubt is when Rick Jones hit the running three pointer, against Lex. Catholic, who was ranked 3rd in the country in the USA today, to put them into the state finals. There were over 22,000 fans there and everybody loved it because they wanted Catholic to go home.
  14. Draud was a great shooter and deserves to be mentioned right in the mix of things.
  15. Just found some interesting statistics from a fellow friend and coach that I know. Jones made 333 threes from his sophomore to senior year of high school and thats not including freshman and eighth grade. If somebody would turn these in, he would the number one guy in the record books. I dont even know if they could turn that in now since it has been forever ago.
