  1. Yes, because they did leave on their own. I recollect our coaches maybe saying that in certain games, particular kids may not get as much playing time, but that is the nature of select sports and will be true with any high-level AAU team. It isn't rec ball where everyone plays equal amounts in every game. The players who the coaches feel give the team the best chance to win will be in more. Many times, our team has been able to play all 10 kids equally in a game. We have never cut a kid. Once a player is on the team, they are a member until they choose to leave. If a player is not happy with the amount of playing time they have on a particular team, it's in the player and parents' best interests to find a new team. I know plenty of select teams in basketball and other sports who have tryouts each year and cut existing players or move them down to a B team.
  2. The KY Patriots are the D-One Sports Kentucky Patriots, didn't realize that I had to spell everything out. D-One Sports is sponsored by Reebok, the KY Patriots have been sponsored by Reebok since Feb. 2006. If Reebok and Nike want to provide them with shoes, uniforms, bags, t-shirts and tournament entry fees the Patriots will call their team anything the sponsors want. The Patriot boys just want to play ball. Why the attitude towards the Patriots? Are you mad because the Patriots are good? The D-One Sports Kentucky Patriots are good because they've played ball together for years, they have great coaching, they play year-round, and the boys have a passion for the game. Don't be a hater because they are good.:fight:
  3. You DID misunderstand what the parents told you. The coaching staff of the KY Patriots has never cut a player off the team. Every kid that has left the team left on their own or because their parent took them off the team. This goes all the way back to 4th grade. The Patriots have never had tryouts or "cut" a single player. The KY Patriots do not play with different players in different tournaments. When they play as the KY Patriots they always play with the full Patriot roster. There have been a few tournaments where some of the Patriot boys played without three or four of their teammates, when this happens, they play as "KY Prep". These tournaments were usually the local BCI tournaments in N. KY. The only other time the Patriots play under a different name is in Nike Tournaments where they play representing Eddie Ford's Nike organization as the "KY Hoopstars East" where they won both the Nike Midwest Regional Middle School Championship in Henderson, KY and the Nike National Middle School Championship in Nashville, TN.
  4. Thanks. Didn't get rid of anyone. Some kids left on their own over the last couple years due to natural attrition, choosing other sports, etc. 4 years ago, the team was all Boone County kids and could not compete with the elite national teams because there just wasn't enough size to choose from in our area. Kentucky has to draw from all over the state to compete with teams from large metropolitan areas. The Pats finished third in KY even when they were all Boone County kids a few years ago, but that was due to extraordinary ball-handling, three-point shooting, and good coaching with what they had.
  5. Tough for a new coach to come in and lose his Sr. point guard. Neeley is a great kid and very good player, good luck in Owen Co.:thumb:
  6. That's true. I don't know if they have fixed that yet or not.
  7. He played well in most of the games. The wrist was not a factor.
  8. The AAU KY Patriots won one of the 16 medals at the 14-U 8th grade Division 1 AAU nationals in Orlando this past week, finishing 13th in a field of 162 teams. Congratulations to the following boys. It was a total team effort! Andy Earls (Boone County) Austin Flannery (Boone County) Ryan Popp (Boone County) Clay Coleman (Ryle) Dakotah Euton (Rose Hill) Chad Jackson (Rose Hill) Kyle Bair (Rose Hill) Josh Sewell (Louisville Trinity) Jordan Siebert (Princeton) Juwan Staten (Dayton Colonel White) Tyrell Willis (Calloway County)
  9. The game was played at the Sports of All Sorts in Florence, KY. Those courts are brand new this year. This facility did not have courts before this year. It is a nice facility.
  10. The Patriots got beat 88-87 by the KC Bruins (finished 7th last year) in the second round of the championship bracket. They dropped to the second round losers bracket and beat..... Charolette Royals (N. Carolina) 85-63 D-Wade Allstars (Wisconsin) 84-70 Alabama Titans 88-61 United Celtics 82-72 The Patriots are guarenteed a medal. Tomorrow at 11:30, they play the Arkansas Lions (Ark. AAU State Champions) if the Patriots win they finish 8th if they lose they finish 13th. Not a bad performance in a national tournament with 162 of the best teams throughout the nation.:ylsuper:
  11. They came in 5th at the YBOA Nationals in Orlando the Div 1 AAU Nationals was in Detroit for the 15U age group. The 14U D-One Sports KY Patriots from N. KY & Ashland beat the 15U EKY Lightning in the 15U YBOA KY State Championship game in Florence a couple of months ago. The Patriots did not compete at the YBOA nationals this year. Last year they finished 3rd in the nation at YBOA nationals.
  12. More 15 & Under Ronald Cotton (Boone) Clay Coleman (Ryle) Tate Nichols (Ryle)
