  1. Hound82 do you know which allstar games she was invited to attend beacause she is not on the invite list for KY/OH or KY/IN allstar list. I know that they are by invite only. It looks like both lists have alot of big time players who have already signed with some Division 1 schools, but will play anyway. I believe its a honor to be invited and a player should go if invited.
  2. Congratulations to Mikkah, great player good luck at Georgetown. I don't know what the difference is but I looked up some info from the local and state newspapers:kentuckybasketballcoaches.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=83&Itemid=103 - 29k Lauren was also named 13th region player of the year and was presented an award at the state tourney. She was invited and played in the East/West allstars after the state tourney. The player from each region that was voted #1 and #2 was invited to play. Jimision from Middleboro was 2nd in votes but did not show up to play. Lauren was named MVP of the East allstars scoring 15 pts and 10 rebounds. Lauren was invited and will play in Ky/Ohio Allstar game at Thomas More College in Northern Ky on April 11th and 12th. She was also invited to try out for the Ky/Indiana Allstar team on April 18th and 19th at Georgetown college. To get an automative invite you had to be the KABC 13th Region POY. Hound82 do you know if Mikkah is invited to any of the allstar games. I would love to go and watch Lauren and Mikkah play together instead of against each other. I think they would make great teammates. I asked earlier this week and Lauren has definitley not made a decision. I know that Belmont in Nashville came and watched her softball game last week and talked to Lauren and her family, but want her for basketball. Also cntacted by Bucknell. I believe both are Div. 1 schools. Her Dad told me several coaches were talking to her including Georgtown, NKU, Kentucky Weslyn, Union, LMU, Midway, Transy, Thomas More, Indianapolis,Bellermine and of course Cumberland. There were several more but, I can't remember them all. I think she will be a great asset to any team. Great player and kid.
  3. clarification-Lauren Wombles South Laurel High School
  4. Middlesboro Coach-Eligen Greene ?spelling? South Laurel's Lauren Wombles player of the year
  5. Congratulations to the Lady Cards!!! We are all very proud of the team for not quitting when Clay Co. made a comeback. I know both teams played their hearts out.It was a shame for one of them to loose.I agree with you Les, Coach Burchell is a class-act and Clay is an awesome team. I really feel bad for Gemma and Sarah, both seem like great kids and are excellent ball players. Jackson will be an allstar player. Good Luck South at Bowling Green! I feel like the game was called pretty fair. Yes, the referees could have called Dean for reaching, but they could have also called Jackson and Phillips for riding on Wombles back all night. I don't know the individual scoring, but South played an awesome game tonight. I'm really impressed with all of the SL fans that came out today to support the Lady Cards. They showed alot of class by not yelling negative things toward the Clay fans.
  6. I just wanted to say congratulations to the South Laurel Lady Cardinal with 2 big wins over #4 E-town and Rockcastle. The Cards almost pulled off the upset against Clay at South on senior night. Wombles has really stepped up her game, scoring over 20 pts. in each game. The team is playing great ball and the younger girls are really stepping up. I hope that they can keep it up in district play. Good Luck Girls!!!
  7. Les we know right where your heart is ......NORTH LAUREL!!!!!I couldn't resist!! I know you went to school there. I believe that we have picked at you enough, I think you guys do a great job covering the kids of the tri-counties.
  8. I agree that Clay would be even tougher with Stephanie playing. It's a shame that she quit. I guess I was misinformed but, I have always heard that. I believe that they could make an impact on any team in the state. South will play Clay and E-town at South, then they play the Rock at home.
  9. I'm not taking any shots at Coach Parsons she is a very good Coach.I get my info from the paper and I have friends in Corbin. I was told by a very realiable source that she and her twin brother where retained in 5th grade. I could have been informed wrong. I don't think just anyone gets the McDonalds All-American nomination. I looked online and there where only 30 girls from Ky. I think we both can agree that if Rogers and Wombles weren't from Eastern Ky they would get alot more attention. Les,to answer your question I believe that there are several teams that can win the region on any given night. Of course I would like to see South win.
  10. Well Hound82 I will just tell you why Wombles is not scoring as much as Rogers. Coach Snyder does not leave her in when SL is blowing out a team or even ahead by more than 15. Coach Snyder is not trying to make her numbers look good aganist very weak teams. She has never left a player in just to make their numbers look good. If she has left Wombles in several of the games that South has played Wombles could have had 30 points a game. It's bad enough to beat a team to death but to leave your best player in just to make her numbers look good is bad sportsmanship in my book. South Laurel get there younger player in when there is a blow out. Corbin is not the only team that keeps their best player in when there is a blow out or playing an team that is not that good. If South left Wombles in she would be the leading scorer in the region and probally one of the top in the state. LES,is it possible to find out how many minutes that Rogers and Wombles averages a game and maybe Hounds82 will see why Rogers has more ppg. I am not taking anything away from Rogers because she is a great player and seems like a good kid. I do know that Rogers was retained and is a 19 year old senior, while Wombles was skipped a grade and just recently turned 17.I can't imagine just how tough Wombles could be if she was not skipped and was retained.Just imagine her having 2 more years to play high school ball. I know that Wombles has had many college offers in basketball, softball and volleyball but she has decided to stay close to home to be close to her family and church. I think we saw in both meeting between Corbin and South Laurel that both of the girls are great players but I believe that Wombles showed why she is ranked #1 in Les Dixons rankings. I also want to congratulate Lauren for being nominated for a McDonalds All-American. Keep up the good work Lauren you are always a class act.
  11. Great win for the Lady Cardinals beating Corbin by 17 points at Corbin. Wombles had a great game for the Cardinals. I really enjoy watching her play! Congrats to Mikah Rogers on getting her 1500th point,
  12. The Whitley/Corbin game is the one that I heard was going to be sent to the KHSAA. One of Corbin's players stomped a Whitley player in the chest. I think most of us agree that something needs to be done. I guess we will see if they continue to show bad sportmanship when South plays Corbin next week. I know that scoring is important but there is more to being a good player that just being the leading scorer. Some coaches seem to just want one player to be the superstar, I'm thankful that South always puts forth more of a team effort.
  13. I totally agree with you Cosmos the 13th is wide open. I have to also agree about the "dirty play" of several of Corbin's players that you spoke of in another post. It's a shame that Coach Parsons and the referees let's that happen. We got a taste of it when they came to South. I just hope someone doesn't get hurt if they are allowed to continue to play that way, hopefully they know better know since I heard that the video was sent to the KHSAA.
  14. I have to disagree about the officating. There were several questionable calls against SL. We are all very proud of the girls. There are not many teams that have a Perfect regular season (38-0). SL held their own against a UL signee and a member of the Jr national team. I think your a little upset that PC didn't even make it to the region.
  15. Lunatic , can you give the players from the 12th and 13th. Thanks!!
