  1. 21 June 22, 2006 at 08:08 PM EDT Well there are no places in Kentucky that will take Justin. The social worker gave me a list of 7 places in Ohio. I'm looking at one in Clifton on Friday. It's the closest one. It's called Communicare of Clifton. It has a rehab doctor and a wound nurse on site, Justin would get therapy 5 to 6 times a week. I heard it is clean but old. Will know more tomorrow. Keep up those prayers. For he will give his angels charge over you (Justin) to guard you in all your ways. Psalms 91:11
  2. June 08, 2006 at 09:27 AM EDT Justin was taken off the ventilator on Wednesday and still has the treach with a cool aeresol connected to it. He sat up in his chair for 3 hours today. He opened his eyes a couple of times. People have been asking for Drakes address to send cards. I don't know how long we will be at Drake so I think it would be better to send cards to the house and I will take them to Justin. I should meet with the head nurse today to dicuss Justins progress - etc. On Wednesdays all the Dr., Therapist, nurse and etc get together and discuss the patients and then the head nurse meets with the families on Wednesdays or Thursdays to dicuss progress and etc. Thanks again for everyones kindess and the love and prayers that keep coming our way.
  3. As far as I know the summer practices will be at Freedom Park. At least that is where the passing league practice is.....
  4. May 28, 2006 at 10:32 PM EDT The move to Drake Hospital went real smooth. Justin slept through it all. His fever goes up a little it. The highest it went to Saturday was 100.8 which is a low grade fever. He opened his left eye for about 15 minutes Saturday night. He was moving his legs around a lot today and he was making these motions with his lips and mouth. Like he was chewing on something. Thanks again to everyone for all of the kindness. I would love to thank each and everyone but it would be impossible. We have a long, slow road ahead of us so I may be calling you for some help. Keep up those prayers. It's hard leaving Justin each night. I miss him so much. I miss him around the house, I miss his voice and his laughter. But I know he needs to rest and that he is healing his mind, body and soul. May 29, 2006 at 09:38 PM EDT Justin's fever was only 98.4 today. He is sweating a lot on his left side of his head and face. It's the oddiest thing the right side is dry and the left is soaking wet. I went and bought him a fan but they wouldn't let me plug it in until maintenace checks it out and they won't be in until Tuesday. His breathing is 50/50 he breathes 12 breaths and the machine does 12 for him. Today they also placed a wound vac in his abdomen incesion. This will aid in draining and healing his open wound. He was not very active today - even when they were inserting the drain it didn't agitate him at all he just yawned.
  5. That is wonderful news...... The prayers are still coming from me.
  6. Please continue to post what you know. The only info I can get is from the Care Page.
  7. May 24, 2006 at 07:50 PM EDT They decided not move Justin to cardinal Hill because of his fever. It has been a lowgrade fever never went over 100.6 so it looks like the new antibiotics are working. So he will probably be moved on Thursday. Today they switched him to a different catherder and switched him from Ritalen to Bromocriptine. The nurse today said she could see little signs of him waking up. I can't wait until he wakes up but I know he needs this sleep in order for his brain to heal.
  8. Newest Update from the Care Page. May 23, 2006 at 05:04 PM EDT Well it's been 3 long agonizing weeks. He was still running a fever. They discovered that he has a Urinary Tract Infection and put him on a new antibiotic (cefepime) at around midnight last night and it seems to be lowering his fever. They had him sitting up this morning and he opened his left eye a little when I was talking to him. A doctor also came in and checked his arms and legs and she said he had good tone and range of motion. Justin also has a lung infection and they put him on another antibiotic (tobrmycin). They are also planning on moving him to Cardinal Hill either Wednesday or Thursday. Cardinal Hill is located on the 3rd floor of St Luke Hospital in FT. Thomas, Ky. I little back ground on Cardinal Hill.... They are an LTACH (Long Term Acute Care Hospital) Patients go there when they still need the "hospital setting" and they prepare them for rehab. I was told with my mom the average stay there is 25 to 30 days. They have the ability to treat the medical conditions (i.e. infections, vents, trachs......) but they also have physical and occupational therapy 4 to 5 times a week. Visiting hours are much better 1PM to 8PM every day. It is kind of like having a small hospital in large hospital. They have their own staff doctor, therapists and pharmacy on the floor. The nurse to patient ratio is 4 to 1 verses 2 to 1 in the intensive care setting, but the families can stay for 7 hours a day. They don't have to wait for the 45 minutes at a time like the ICU. I am still praying for Justin and ask that you do the same. he still has a long hard road ahead
  9. Thank You...... Just to give a short update on my mom. Wed May 10Th. They told us she would not make it through the night and by Wed May 24Th she will be going to a rehab facility to get therapy to get her strength back so she can come home with hopefully no limitations .
  10. Sorry for the delay in posting. I spend the weekends at the hospital with my mom and do not have access to my computer. Here is the latest updates from the Care Page. I will continute to check them daily and post the new info. 5-19-06 Justinis still running a fever. They took the drain tube out of him. The nurse said he opened his eyes for a brief second when they were moving him around today. They also removed his A-line which was one of two ways they were using for monitoring his blood pressure. 5-20-06 Justin is still running a fever. I haven't seen him open his eyes again but the nurses say he does for a few seconds when they move him around. I feel when I talk to him he moves around like he hears me. He looks better each day. Most of the swelling is gone from his left side. They are not giving him anything to help reduce the swelling he is getting rid of it himself and they say this is also a good sign. The respitory tech came in today during one of the visits and his told us he is breathing on his own and that his lungs are good. The treach will remain to help him breath. 5-21-06 Justin is still running a fever the highest it got today was 102.8. When we got to the 2:15 visit the nurse was with him and his eyes were open so we got to see him with his eyes open for about a minute. The doctors are planning to do a CAT Scan on his abdomen and chest on Monday or Tuesday to see once again if they can find the cause of his fever.
  11. Update that Justin's sister posted on carepages...... 5-18-06 I started out having a bad morining with it being Justin's 21st birthday and we were supposed to be in Vegas celebrating. But when me and my mom went the first visit and the nurse told us that she had seen his eyes opened when the trama doctors were doing there rounds earlier I cried tears of joy. Also during this visit The physical therapist came in and was doing therapy on his arm and he bent his left knee up towards his stomach. She said this was great not good great. At the 2:15 visit the nurse told me that Justin had a panic attack and was real upset when they were moving him from his air bed back to a regular bed. His heart and respitory went way up and his blood pressure went way down. She was concerned why he was acting so frantic. I took it as a sign that he was aware of something being done to him and maybe confused about it. After the 6:15 visit the nurse came to get me and he had his eyes open. He kept them open for about 5 minutes it was so awesome. So everyone keep up the prayers.
  12. Happy 21ST Birthday Justin!!!! I read a message that said Justin opened his eyes today, only for a brief moment, but it may be a sign that he may be coming out of the coma. Please continue to keep him and his family in your prayers.
  13. Update from Carepages.... 5-16-06 We had a meeting today with Dr Shutter on Justin's prognosis Justin did not fit in the SPEC MRI machine because his shoulders are 22" and the machine is only 19". So the drs. relied on older technology an open MRI and an SSEP test (Somatos sensory envoked) The results suggest that his brain stem is OK. Also his Corpuse colosum which is the center of the brain is stretched not torn. A stretch can heal if it was torn they could not repair it. If it was torn it would mean no functionality. Justin also has injuries in his frontal lobes. We are encouraged to try to wake Justin up. The Dr. suggested talking to him, playing his favorite music, putting the TV on to things he would normally watch, colognes or soaps that he likes. When he wakes he will not recognize his environment. And they have no idea when he will wake up. It is going to be a long, slow process and he is going to have to re-learn alot of things. Dr Shutter also said that Justin will not have the same personality or be at 100%. But the doctors are not God and only he knows how Justin will be. Justin is now qualified fro LTAC (long term acute care) which will probably be Cardinal Hills a facility in Ft Thomas. It is going to take 6-9 months before Justin's brain will heal and for the drs. to discover exactly what his disabilities may be. 5-16-06 Justin had to get another blood transfusion today, they re-adjusted his pick, his blood pressure has dropped and today was his first day of therapy
  14. This is the latest update from the care page and a message that Justin's mom posted. 5-15-06 They took Justin this morning to do an open MRI, his shoulders were too big for the Spec MRI which is how they did his last MRI on Friday 5/12 and they couldn't get a good reading from the MRI on Friday. 3:45 They removed his TRUMEN monitor because they are afraid of infection and are inserting a PICC (piclinine) this is the line they will use for his IV and fluids that he needs. They are also planning on putting Justin on 2 different types of antibiotices Cipro and flagly. He's still running a high fever and they can't find the cause. But the nurse did tell me that he actually hit her with his left hand/arm today when she was doing the oral hygene on his mouth. So he showing some good signs. Here is the message from Justins mom that was posted on his care page. Hey everyone, I'm not the best with words, so it goes; I love you all.Thank you for the prayers, friendship, concern, care, and generosity. I look forward everyday to your phone call, gifts, e-mails and cards. I feel as though I am living a nightmare and it's so surreal. I feel that each day Justin is here is a gift. He's young, stuborn and strong. I'm hanging in there and going through the motions. I'm so overwhelmed by everyone's kindness. Mother's Day was a difficult day but there were plenty of people that included me by bringing me flowers and cards. While I was at the hospital on Mother's Day, a couple of ANGELS planted over 100 flowers at our house. Thanks, from the bottom of our hearts, the Ingle family
  15. I met Justin's Mom at University Hospital. My mom is there and was in the NSICU, she has since taken a turn for the worse and was moved to the SICU, but I talked to his mom the other day and told her about all the prayers from BGP. She wanted me to tell everyone that she Thanks You and she is just amazed at the support they have received. I told her we would continue to pray for Justin until he is completely well. Here is the latest update from the CarePage 5-13-06 10:15-11am visit today a nursephycologist inserted electrodes to monitor Justin's brain stimulation. We are supposed to meet with Dr. Shutter this week to get a prognosis. 5:15 visit. They removed the tube from his lungs.
