    Going To Bars
  1. I have read a lot of post where people say “just step outside and smoke”... So let’s say NKY bans smoking in all public places and the smokers were to go “outside” to smoke. What about the residents that live near a bar? Would you want to have people standing outside your house smoking on the sidewalk at 1:30 am? Do you think that the limited police resources should be spent on enforcing the smoking ban? Do any of you who are for the ban looked around some of the places where there is a neighborhood bar that would ultimately have to close their doors after being in the same location for generations? I think some of the people that are against the smoking ban are a little short sighted when it comes down to the independent bar owner.
  2. I feel the same, if there was ever a time for a 3rd party to step in, I would think this would be that time. It doesn't look like it will happen though.
  3. New England Journal of Medicine, published back in 1975, when smoking was rampant in bars and other public places. The paper concluded that the concentration of ETS contaminants in these smoky confines was equal to the effects of smoking 0.004 cigarettes per hour. In other words, you would have to hang out for 250 hours to match the effects of smoking one cigarette. So, how dangerous IS secondhand smoke? The most reliable data would indicate that it is nowhere near as serious a threat as elements of the media (and their supporters within academia) would have us believe. In fact, ETS is, at its most extreme, far less dangerous than numerous other indoor air pollutants such as carbon monoxide, toxic mold, and radon http://www.gasdetection.com/news2/health_news_digest6.html
  4. The Louisiana law was for the death penalty to be used against child rape offenders. The Coker vs. Georgia was an adult rape case.
  5. If I caught the ball I would have handed it to Jr. when he came out the next inning (and made sure all the cameras were on me). Not because I’m some “do-gooder” but because I bet I would have endorsement deals coming to me from all angles. I would be doing “Priceless” commercials for Master Card, be a spokesman for Goodwill, and be in an “I should’ve had a V8” advertising campaign. Not to mention I would have been on every sports talk show from coast to coast this week. I would have made 3 times what that baseball was worth and I would have a special place reserved for me in Heaven!
  6. I think you may be thinking of "The Sluggers Wife" with Michael O'Keefe (played Danny Noonan in Caddyshack). VERY BAD MOVIE My worst is "Quarterback Princess" and "The Scout".
  7. And I don't know what Dunn does around the bases would quilify as "Run"?
  8. It's also owned by a different county than where it's located.
  9. By interrupting that law to a “T” the creators of Candid Camera, Punked, Americas Funniest Home Videos and several old and new TV shows, would all be in jail right now. Shouldn’t common sense (of the law, not the guy who swam across the river) be involved?
  10. This reminds me of the Jeff Foxworthy joke. What is a rednecks last words? “Hey y’all watch this!” So where was the “inducing panic” crime committed? Was it on the KY side where he was eventually arrested or the Ohio side where he jumped into the water? Could there be an extradition hearing where Joe Deters wants him prosecuted in Ohio so he could have a little TV time? In my mind this whole thing is utterly ridiculous!
  11. I think Marge complained because that was also Easter Sunday. That was the reason that the festivities were held the following day.
  12. Lets not get crazy now! Harang 2 hits 1 run in 8 innings. Jr. hits a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs. Palmer, 4 TD's 375 yrds (1 int.). I think that's a little more realistic.
  13. I forgot to add another thing, that game will be played in Cincinnati Monday afternoon, that evening the Bengals will play Pittsburgh at PBS and beat them by 3 TD's,,,,,I can dream right?
  14. 89-74, The Reds win a 1 game playoff against the Cubs to win the division.
