  1. Amazing! Prior to this post, only one out of six posts are actually about the game. This game is a key match-up for in the District. If X can pull it off and Male goes on to beat Manual it sets up a three way tie for first place. If X losses than it's up to Male and Manual to take the season title and the number one seed going in to the district tourney. With this in mind, if St. X is smart, they will pitch their Co-number one pitcher to-night against the Bulldogs, Ryan Mosby. I am sure the Bulldogs will recipricate with their number one pitcher. Because of this, I have to agree with the one of six, that it will be a low scoring affair, probably won by one or two runs either way. :thumb:LET'S GO TIGERS!:thumb: :fight:BEAT THE DAWGS!:fight:
  2. You are dead on point. It was 1981. According to KHSAA St. X is #3 on the all-time win list for baseball State Titles at five (5) 1942, 1945, 1949, 1951, 1981 For the complete list: CLICK HERE: http://www.khsaa.org/records/baseball/baseball.pdf
  3. If all you base your opinion on is the score; than you're right. But most National Polls, especially one as well respected as Baseball America, look at the body of work; not on one isolated game. This game was a fluke ... a bump in the road. St. X had an off night and Manual was playing over their heads this night. All aided by a bad call at the plate in the fifth inning, that allowed the flood gates to open. This is further evidenced by the fact that Wednesday night J-town beat Manual 6-5 while St. X beat DeSales 4-1. Then Thursday night St. X shutout J-town 5-0. IMVHO if these two teams played ten (10) games St. X would win 9 of 10.
  4. This is total bunk: 1. He would have had to be in the bathroom, not to have seen the play. 2. If this is the true story; why didn't he ask for help from the field ump. 3. He did NOT throw the head coach out of the game. If he knew the rule and he knew he made the right call then he would have had no problem winning the protest that would have happened had he thrown the head coach out. The Umpire was wrong. He knew he was wrong. He wouldn't over turn the call. He wouldn't ask for help. That's why he didn't throw the head coach out of the game. The head coach was justified in his protest. But trust me I have seen coaches ejected for far less than what I saw this night.
  5. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Henry Co. field is when I saw it last year. It was the first time I had ever been on the campus. I have only one complaint, it was an early season game, the field sits on top of the hill behind the school, the temperature was only about 40 degrees and the wind never stopped blowing. It was COLD! and NO Hot Chocolate!

  8. As does every team in the history of the game!
  9. St. X has been on their field every day (Except Sunday's and the snow days) since February 15th. No soggy outfield. No Muddy Infield. Well drained and in great shape.
  10. In the NCAA, there are only 11.7 Athletic Scholarships available for baseball at the to D-I and D-II Levels. All D-III schools have No Athletic Scholarships. (NAIA schools are excluded, they are not governed by the NCAA.) On a 33-36 man roster 11.7 scholarships is not enough to go around. The only guys that usually get full rides are pitchers. Unfortunately, "Duel Source" is the only way for all baseball coaches to get good players.

  13. Just for clarification, everyone is in agreement that if all you do is throw more students at it, the Public High School Football programs will get better? Is that right?
  14. It's the feeder system. When you have kids start learning the game in the second grade - IT'S A HUGH ADVANTAGE! Even the not so talented athletes at least know the game well enough to be affective on the field.
