Talk about semantics. Resilience, resolve, persistence, determination, fortitude, all these words are the core of mental toughness. What did you think I meant by being tough? That I punch my way out of stressful situations? :D

Being tough has nothing to do with being macho. I'm talking about being in highly stressful situations, many being out of your control, and being tough enough to handle them. Things can turn on a drop of a dime. Before you know it, you can be broke, homeless, and desperate and no amount of intelligence and tech-savvy will help without grit, toughness, and determination. It can happen to the best of us. I've been there. I wish I was tougher.

Smarter and being as tough are two different things. Dad was not as tough as my grandfather. I'm not as tough as my father. I'm smarter, but don't have his grit. He did not have Papaw's grit. I just hope I gave my kids enough guidance to have enough grit to survive when the going gets rough. I'm afraid diving into a cry closet is not one of the tools I recommended.

I've always wondered how today's students would deal with a professor like the one I had at Cumberland, Prof. Compton, who would throw things at you if you incorrectly answered a question. It could be a blackboard erasure, a piece of chalk, a pencil, or a stapler. You never knew what was coming. I used to check out her desk as I entered the classroom. Answer correctly or duck.

Had a breakfast meeting, this morning, at Ellies Diner out near Tampa Bay Downs. Good solid American breakfast, no foo foo stuff. I know it's hard to screw grits up, but theirs are amazing.

That was after the 2017 season. South Florida had 7 on that list. Since then 3 more of Orlando Antigua's recruits, Tulio De Silva, Malik Martin, and Troy Holston have left, as well.

I have never known anyone to survive this. The fact that he is still alive is miraculous in and of itself. In the latest update, the team said Farquhar is “progressing well” following the latest procedure. He remains in the ICU unit at RUSH University Medical Center in critical, but stable condition. This isn’t supposed to happen, not to a professional athlete, not to one of the nicest guys and kindest souls you’ll ever want to meet, not to a 31-year-old husband with three young children. One moment, Danny Farquhar is a major-league pitcher, walking off the mound into the Chicago White Sox dugout. The next, he’s vomiting, collapsing, rushed by ambulance to the hospital, fighting for his life. Farquhar suffered a brain aneurysm...

The article said he bought it privately, not online. He would have had to undergone some kind of background check, had he bought it online. I've purchased several weapons online and have won one in a contest. All had to be shipped to and picked up at a local gun store. My understanding is that under federal law, any online firearm purchase must be done dealer to dealer. If you buy a weapon online, legally, not through the Dark Web, it...
