Nashville. Viktor Arvidsson had a hat trick and Nick Bonino pick up 2 goals as the Preds beat down Washington. Rocco Grimaldi and Calle Jarnkrok also scored for Nashville.

Having read 2 books in this series, it baffles me how 2 ex-Secret Service agents keep getting followed without them noticing it, as much as they do. Just sayin'. :)

Brooklyn. Have I mentioned how much I hate back to back games? You can't give up 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game, not even the Bolts, the way they have been playing this season. You really can't do that after expending the effort Tampa Bay did after coming back from another slow start in Buffalo, the night before. They've been able to overcome slow starts all season, but this one got away too fast and they could not recover. ...

Marco Scandella scored with 14:06 to go in the game to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead on their home ice. 23 seconds later, Nikita Kucherov tied it up for the Bolts. Steven Stampkos put a shot past Linus Ulmark with 5:16 left to give Tampa Bay the lead, and Ryan Callahan scored a power play goal at the 18:41 mark to finalize the scoring. Braydon Point scored his 29th goal of the season 26 seconds into the game. Ondrej Palat scored to tie the game in...

Kerwin Bell, former Florida QB, was hired as the new offensive coordinator for the University of South Florida. As head coach of Valdosta State last season, Bell lead the Blazers to their first undefeated season in school history and the DII National Championship. VSU lead DII in scoring, averaging 52 points a game, and set a Gulf South Conference record for most points in a season. He's bringing the fun and gun to Tampa. Now, let's see if...

Carolina blanketed Tampa Bay's high powered offense for 2 1/2 periods in Amalie Arena. The Bolts only managed 3 shots on goal in the 1st period, 7 in the second, and had only 17 shots the entire game with 11 minute left in the 3rd. Then somebody hit a switch, the Canes defense ran out of gas, and Tampa Bay hammered Hurricane goalie Petr Mrasek with 13 shots from that point forward. However, it still took 2 power play goals to give the...

Bruce Arians was named head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tuesday evening. He had a heck of a run with Arizona and only managed 1 year of retirement. Arians is being promoted as the guy to work with Jamis Winston, but I thought Dirk Koetter was that guy. The Bucs led the league in passing yards and were 3rd in total yardage, this last season. However, the defense could not stop my grandson's flag football team. The Glazer's have...

Braydon Point had 2 goals and an assist and Andre Vasilevskiy made 31 saves as the Bolts shutout Columbus in Tampa. Mathieu Joseph and Nikita Kucherov also scored for Tampa Bay. Sergei Bobrovsky allowed 4 goals on 19 shots and was pulled with 11 minutes left in the 3rd period. The Bolts only had 22 shots on goal in the game. Columbus is still 7-3 in its last 10 games, while the Lightning are 8-1-1. Tampa Bay is 11-0 against the...

Nashville. Craig Smith had 2 goals and P.K. Subban had 2 assists as Nashville walked all over Montreal. Mattias Ekholm scored in the 1st and Viktor Arvidsson picked up an empty netter late. With Winnipeg's loss Friday night, the Preds find themselves back in the top spot of the Central Division.

Sunrise. Brandon Dubinsky gave Columbus a 3-2 lead midway through the 3rd period, but Erin Ekbland tied the game for Miami with 2:13 left in regulation to send the game into overtime. OT started with a breakout by the Jackets. Pierre Du Bois was taken down with hook and a punch to the kidneys, by Jonathan Huberdeau, but he still managed to get a pass to Seth Jones for the game winner, 18 seconds into the period. Anthony Duclair and Josh...

San Jose. I didn't get to see but about half of this game, but it was evident early on that the Bolts were going to drop this one. The puck was spending way too much time in their own zone, they were giving it up too often in the neutral zone, and Andre Vasilevskiy was not on. The 16 game point streak is over. Nikita Kucherov's 12 game point streak ends, as well. Victor Hedman and Mikhail Sergachev scored for Tampa Bay. Evander Kane...

I'm starting to really like Mike Kelly, USF VP of Athletics. In a move obviously designed to poke a stick in UCF's ribs, he and Florida AD Scott Stricklin announced last week that they had revamped their agreement and moved the Florida/USF game in Tampa to 2021. :lol2: Mike was COO of the CFP from its beginning until his hire last spring. It should be interesting to see what else he scares up to fill the voids in OOC schedule beyond 2019.

P.K. Subban scored his first goal since coming off IR and Craig Smith gave the Nashville a 2-0 lead early in the second, but Detroit scored 2 in the second and 1 in the third to take a 3-2 lead. Late in the 3rd, with neither team able to get a shift change and the clock under 2 minutes left to go, the Preds were able to work a partial shift change and Renne went to the bench to give Nashville a 6 on 5 advantage. From that the Predators were...

Raleigh. Carolina had built a 3-0 lead with a little over 4 minutes left in the second period before Oliver Bjorkstrand and Artemi Panarin score two goals in a span of 25 seconds. However, Columbus could not get the tie and gave up an empty netter with 2 second left in the game. The Jackets are still 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

With half the season now played, Tampa Bay is 32-7-2 with 66 points and are on pace to match the 76-77 Montreal Canadians, who hold the record for most points in a season (132). Even if Toronto wins tonight, the Leafs will still be 10 points behind the Atlantic Division leaders and 3rd place Boston trails Tampa Bay by 14 points. Washington trails the Bolts by 13 points in the race for home ice in the East. The Battle of the Bays is Saturday...

L.A. The Kings knew they could not make mistakes against the NHL's best team, but Brenden Leipsic gave Braydon Colburn a high stick, picking up a double minor, and Dustin Brown hooked Brayden Point 50 seconds later that gave Tampa Bay a 5-3 opportunity, early in the 1st period. Before the ice dust settled, Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point had scored and the Bolts were off and running. The game was never close. Kurcherov had that goal and...
