I'm up to chapter 39. Chamberlain - January 1863. The book is a fascinating way to look at the war. I've not seen the movie, but I can't imagine it is as good as the book. Movies rarely are.

I would not be surprised if USF made concessions in the contracts. South Florida, could give more than 50% of the proceeds to their opponents and still make more than they would playing a G5 opponent at home, other than UCF, of course. As far as home crowd, I guarantee you Ray Jay will be Orange and Blue, not Green and Gold, when Florida plays there. Just as it's Garnet and Gold when FSU plays USF there. The bottom line is to play P5...

And the former home of the UCF Knights for their first 27 years of existence. Isn't the revenue garnered from neutral field contracts split between the 2 schools? Did Alabama get more for playing in Kickoff game than Louisville got? They get allotted so many tickets and then split the difference, yes?

You do what you have to do to. UCF's arch rival is doing what they won't and getting action. Next season they open at home against Wisconsin, then travel to Georgia Tech. In 2022, they host Texas in the opener, then go to Gainesville the next week, and Louisville the third week. In 2024, they go to Texas, then host Louisville, and NC State. Though not a P5 school, sandwiching in BYU next season, and in 2021 is not bad for national...

It's odd. UCF keeps rejecting these deals and yet they want to be regarded with the P5. My Daddy always told me, "Respect is something you earn. Those who demand it rarely receive it."

Didn't UCF do the same thing with Louisville, reject a 2 for 1 deal? And Louisville was willing to play in the Wok.

Florida already has a game scheduled in Raymond James Stadium. The second week in 2021. Not against the team from Oviedo, though.

Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele scored with 42 seconds left in overtime to end Tampa Bay's eight game winning streak. The game was a fast, seesaw, high shooting affair, with 89 shots on goal tallied between the two teams, Bolts 47, Jets 42. Alex Killorn opened the scoring with a power play goal with under 7 minutes to go in the 1st period, but Mathieu Perreault scored a PPG with just 17 seconds left in the period to leave it 1-1 after one. ...

In Nashville. Fredrick Gaudreau scored on a rebound of a deflected shot by Miikka Salomaki in the first period. Roman Jose appeared to have scored a power play goal in the second period, but it was ruled a no goal after New Jersey challenged and Colton Sissons was declared to have interfered with Devils goaling Keith Kincaid. In the third period, New Jersey's Brian Boyle scored a rebound goal of his own off a shot by Jesper Bratt to send the...

Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Markus Nutivaara blasted a one timer past Anaheim goalie, John Gibson, on a puck sent to him from a face off with 7:54 left in the first period. Daniel Sprong scored for Anaheim with 4:04 left in the period to tie the game at 1. Gibson and Sergei Bobrovsky made miraculous saves the rest of the way through regulation, especially Gibson who was getting peppered by the Jackets in the 3rd. Columbus out shot the Ducks...

Nashville. The Preds held a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd period, but Vancouver scored twice to take the game into overtime. Ryan Hartman, Nick Banino, and Calle Jarnkrok all scored for Nashville in regulation. 3:05 into overtime, Mattias Ekholm passed the puck to Colton Sissons right in front of the Canuck goal and Sissons guided the puck up and over Anders Nilsson for the game winner.

From Columbus. I was watching this game during the Lightning intermissions. My understanding of the graphics, being displayed during the third period of the game, was that the Jackets had not won a game over the Kings in regulation since 2014. They sure did this time. Dustin Brown gave LA the lead a little under 4 minutes into the game. A minute and a half later Luke Sedlak answered and Amemi Panarin scored his 1st goal of the game to give...

In Amalie Arena, the 2 best teams in hockey faced off, yet again. This time Tampa Bay and the team right behind them in the Atlantic division, Toronto. The Bolts defense in front of their goalie was horrible, allowing 49 shots on goal. However, Andrei Vasilevskiy, in his first game back after missing 14 games due to an injured foot, stopped 48 of them and Tampa Bay won its 8th game in a row. The 48 saves was a career high for 88. Maple...

Senior. He's played AAU ball during the summer, but he got a late in life start, playing basketball, and really needs work. We could have an entire thread about him. He did not have a good game last night, though Largo put it all over Dixie Hollins, 79-44. BTW, it's the first time I've seen a running clock in basketball.

As far as brands go, most of the cast iron skillets we have were my mother's. The ones she cooked in before I showed up on the scene. They are almost 70 years old. I have no idea who made them, but you can't tell how old they are by looking at them. I have several that I've bought from Publix. They seasoned up nice and I can't tell the difference between using them and the older ones.

I used to eat there all of the time, when I was a single pup. The last Captain D's in the Tampa Bay area moved out more than a decade ago. Sounds like they've also changed their menu a bit. FWIW, there are only 4 Long John Silvers left in the area and they are combined with other chains, like Taco Bell and A&W Root Beer. At one time, they were all over the place.

Went to Moe's, yesterday, for lunch. It's been a while, like 5 or 6 years. They've changed the menu slightly. Had the Earmuffs, their version of a burrito bowl, with steak. Forgot how good they are. Last Friday, I went to Pollo Tropical for lunch. It's a chicken chain. I don't know whether you have them up there or not. Again, it's been a few years. Ordered another bowl thingy called the Tropichop. It's not exactly a burrito bowl, because you...

In Amalie, Steven Stamkos got the 9th hat trick of his career and Anthony Cirelli got 2 goals as the Bolts won their 7th in a row. Ryan McDonagh also scored for Tampa Bay and Louis Domingue had 23 saves, 13 of them in the 3rd period to keep his 3rd period save percentage above 94 percent. Kevin Hayes scored 2 goals for New York with Jesper Fast adding one late in the third, before Cirelli sealed the deal with an empty netter with 38 seconds...

At the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. It took 10 rounds in the shootout, but Jake Guentzel scored the game winner. Casey DeSmith held the Islanders to 1 goal on 26 shots in regulation and overtime, then saved 4 of 5 in the shootout. Anthony Beauvillier scored with 13 minutes left in the second to give New York a 1-0 lead going into the third period. Derrick Brassard tied it for the Pens early in the third and both teams went scoreless from...

In Calgary ... Colton Sissons tied the game 1-1 in the first. Craig Smith did it again in the third to make it 2-2. Then Juuse Saros, in goal to give Rinne a night off, gave up 2 goals to Flames Garret Hathaway and Alan Quine to put Nashville in a hole they could not climb out of. Elias Lindholm added an empty netter with 3 minutes to go to seal the deal. The Preds end their 2 game western Canadian road trip and face Ottawa at home on...
