At one point in this rain delayed marathon the Eagles lead 17-8, but Tech worked their way back and ended any hope of a MSU second seed with a grand slam homer in the top of the ninth. MSU still goes into the OVC tournament as a 3 seed.

Gainesville Regional. USF downed Bethune-Cookman in the losers bracket. OSU scored 3 in the 3rd to overcome an early South Florida 2-0 lead. OSU was to play Florida in the Regional Final at noon today, but I believe they are having weather delays. Ohio State needs to take two from the #2 ranked Gators.

DCF removes children from homes all of the time without due process for the parents, all in the name of protecting the kids. Law enforcement has been given the power to remove weapons from people deemed dangerous to themselves or the general public under the same blanket. I'm not saying I agree with it. Just reporting. But these are the cans that get opened when looking for instant fixes to complex problems.

The Eagles trailed 7-5 going into the bottom of the eighth, but MSU tied the game with 2 in the eighth and won it on a walk off single by Tyler Niemann, driving in Trevor Snyder. Yesterday's Southeast Missouri game at EKU was rained out, so MSU moves within a half game of second place. There has been no indication as to whether the game will be made up today. I would imagine travel plans would prevent it, unless the game is going on right...

Nick Bennett went 8 innings, striking out 8, and not allowing an extra base hit in the shutout. FSU kept pace, beating NC State. The season finally is at 1 this afternoon. A Cardinal win and a NC State loss would put UofL in a tie with NC State at 18-12 in the Atlantic Division. However, the Wolfpack took 2 of 3 from the Cards in Louisville, earlier this season, so NCSU would still be in second place.

Actually Sumner spent years recovering. He only lasted one day, when he returned to the Senate in 1857 and made several trips to Europe for convalescence and treatment in 57 and 58. He did not give his next speech until mid 1859. The vitriol raised by his absence after the beating, from colleagues and foes, would make the worst of social media proud. Sorry for the history lesson. The period leading up to the war fascinates me almost as...

South Florida was up 7-4 with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th, when rain and lightning delayed the game for more than 2 hours. With the Bulls up 8-4, UC scored 4 in the bottom of the eighth to tie it up. Then Coco Montes drove in Kyle Phillips in the top of the ninth and Andrew Perez closed out the Bearcats in the bottom of the inning. The win secures the number 2 seed for the Bulls in the AAC Tournament which begins next Wednesday in...

Florida has a new law that allows police to confiscate weapons from people deemed mentally unstable. In the case I saw recently, a fellow went over to his ex-wife's house brandishing a rifle. He never did anything with it, but the cops seized all of his weapons and petitioned the court for a new "risk protection order" (granted), which prevented this person from legally purchasing a weapon. I believe you can petition the court to get your...
