I'm not sure why the Bengals Draft thread was closed but not the other draft threads of teams. However to continue discussion. What do you all think of their draft? In terms of impact players, I think they did a great job getting guys who could make an impact. The main pick I don't like is the kicker. Could have waited until the 7th round. Plus imo they just drafted Nugent 2.0 Nugent like the guy they drafted was very reliable inside...

I would like to see them draft qb Chad Kelly. With his injury you could IR him this year, and have a backup for next season.

Part of drafting well is also having a good idea when you can get the guys you want. With him being the third rated one, should have made them comfortable knowing he would still be there next round or 7th.

I get what your saying. However he is rated as the third best. Most likely he would still be there in the 6th or 7th. If they took the strong leg kicker from Arizona State i could have understood them being worried he doesn't make it past the 5th round, since most have him rated as the best.

The way he kicks and how it comes off his foot, trajectory and all that look very similar to Nugent. Most teams are close to field goal range once they get to the 38 or 40. Bengals can't be comfortable with a field goal until they get to about the 28. Yes it's only 10 yards, but 10 yards does make a huge difference. Not to mention even if they had him rated as the best. There was 2 other kickers most have rated above him. So they could have...

I wanted a big leg kicker and they went with the Memphis guy. I don't get it. The Memphis player from some of his highlights barely was making it over the bar from 53 yards out. The league has kickers who has strong legs and the Bengals still won't have that.

I definitely think this means the end of Erickson. They usually keep 6 wr. Green, Lafell, Boyd, Ross, Malone and Core. I honestly would be good with the Bengals moving on from Lafell. He doesn't really bring any other dimension to this offense, and prevents the younger guys from playing. If these guys show they are capable come training camp. Then let Lafell walk. Go with the young guys with speed who bring another dimension to this offense...

The Steelers first round pick has basically the same stats as the Bengals third round pick. Hmmm.

Wait a minute I thought you just said the Bengals would only win a few. Now you are not confident in that, and only know the Steelers will win more? You don't even seem to trust what you even know.

That's fine, but he won't unless they switch to a 3/4 defense :D

Well I mean since you know. Then you have nothing to worry about. It's a win, win for you. You get to show how much you know as you say, and get rid of me for a year. It's not like there is any chance you would be wrong and you end up the one gone for the year, since as you say you know they won't win many.

Get Jake Butts, then some OL depth preferably a center and another OL spot. Then draft the Arizona State kicker with one of their picks in the 5th round.

I hope Jake Butts is still there when the Bengals pick and they take him. I really want them to use a two TE system to help their young tackles. That's why I wanted Howard. However if they can get Jake Butts, then I like the Ross pick even more. Even if Butts doesn't get cleared in time this year. You now have insurance in case Eifert leaves. Butts seemed to have a very similar game to Eiferts in college.

Not fair. If people in the top 8 had done a better job, I could have done better lol. However since people let Solomon Thomas go undrafted, I had to take him lol.

The Bengals drafted to very good return men in Ross and Mixon too.

For me as a person, I will never respect him. Me as a fan, I will cheer him on in games if he is helping this team win. He is a very talented back, and the Bengals offense got better by getting him. He is basically a combination of what they had in Hill and Gio. I wonder how Gios recovery is going. If he will be ready to start the year or on pup. If they believe he will be ready to start the year. I wonder if the Bengals try to move Hill....

I know you said you think, I was curious to why. Yes Dansby is gone, and Rey M. are gone. But they signed Minter to take Rey M. Spot and Vigil is taking Dansby spot. They still have Vinny Rey who plays every spot. Flowers who is a fast athletic backer. So yeah they may draft one still, but he is not one they are putting at LB. They got him to rush the passer. So unless they are going to be a 3/4 defense this year, where he could be an...

Um why? De pass rusher is our biggest need. He won Big 12 defensive player of the year at De and had over 11 sacks last year. He is going to be a DE, not a linebacker. Not sure where you came up with that.

They could have and they would have lost draft picks for a guy who won't start. Like it or not both young tackles are going to start this year, and Andre Smith is going to start at guard. Wouldn't have mattered even if they moved up to take someone.

From 2013 to 2015 they had more talent than the Steelers. Skill position wise on offense, the Bengals probably are just as talented now. OL favors the Steelers though.

Exactly. I have mix feelings on it. However in terms of talent at the skill positions, the Bengals are now back to even with the Steelers in talent on offensive skill positions. The OL is the big difference, as the Bengals is unknown. I expect 3 out of the next 4 picks by the Bengals to be lineman on the OL and DL.

53 players on a roster and 2 probably could be considered that, but yet it's a team of thugs?

Well we all know about what he did. Never will respect him for that. With that said on the football side, this is a great pick. Skill position wise on offense, the Bengals have a lot of talent. However it will all come down to the play of the young tackles.

He should be seeing the #2 corner. He eventually will take Lafell spot on the outside. Boyd has the slot. I honestly think Boyd has a breakout year with the addition of Ross. It should open up a lot of things for Boyd in the middle along with Eifert.
