  1. I heard from an excellent source yesterday that Robert Hammonds is NOT interested in the Bourbon County job. Anyone heard anything positive on a hiring? DAVE
  2. Frances is correct. Not only did Kissenger have to research hard on the web to find the rule, I questioned three HS coaches about this. Each one to a man said that it is a Gentleman's Agreement that if you wish to tape a game in which you are not involved you simply ask permission. It is also a given that permission would be granted. Looks to be another scenario where only the KHSAA knows the situation for sure. I can't see many people reading their website before going to a game with video camera in hand hoping to learn something prior to a big game. Personally, I see no problem with video as a scouting tool. If the sport is big enough and important enough that it warrants scouting let it happen. If not, these are only kids playing kids sports, let us video them! I've enjoyed chipping in with this topic. I've said my piece. I'll disappear again now until a post comes up that I will again be interested in. (I have a sneaking feeling it will involve Boyd County HS, but that's another story). Bye for now. DAVE
  3. Just playing Devil's Advocate here! What about the games that are televised? I'm sure that prospective opponents tape those for scouting purposes. If these rules (providing they actually exist) are adhered to strictly everyone entering the gym with a camera should be cleared by the school(s) and/or KHSAA. Also, in the scenario posted by myself earlier, and responded to by Fletch, there would have to be some legalise on the entrance ticket to avoid lawsuits - and many schools don't even use tickets! I think that it is basically an honour agreement that this not done. Bush League, as it was stated earlier. We have been to many double headers and tournaments where we have set up cameras early and could easily be filming the previous game. Honour is what keeps everything on the level, not rules. However, I have been known to be wrong once or twice. So, if someone can quote me a KHSAA rule regarding this I will be more than happy to relent and apologise. DAVE
  4. Just out of interest - who's to stop me going to, say a Lex Cath v Lafayette game and then giving the tape I made to the Henry Clay staff? I don't rep HC at the LC v L game so no rule should have been broken. DAVE
  5. Hey Freak, didn't I call that move about 3 weeks back? A reporter has his insiders, ya know! DAVE
  6. I did lose a Def Leppard CD, don't know if it's in the basement! You are now the main suspect!!! I'm sure I can find you a job on the radio, Freak! ;-) DAVE
  7. MMI has been in this situation so many times before - don't be surprised to see a resurrection. As I said, rumours are going around but we've heard nothing official yet. The official line is that MMI is closing. Oh, and Freak, if there is a Def Leppard CD in the basement it's probably the Rock of Ages one I took to work which disappeared! BTW - have you heard their new offering - Yeah! - all cover versions of really old songs! DAVE
  8. I recently got back from the school and the remaining staff and some board members are busy photographing and logging items ready for a major auction in a week or two. Neerfan, if your father is interested in picking up a memento or two of his time there, this is the way to do it. I really hope that we can find a way to get the 1927 State Basketball and the 1966 State Track trophies donated to our local museum rather than they land on some rich guy's mantelpiece and away from the public eye. The Basketball trophy is beautiful. DAVE
  9. Hey Freak - long time no see! MMI graduated 11 seniors on Saturday and even then we, the staff, were (and still are) not sure what on earth is going on. On May 12 we were told that the school would be closing. The following Monday I was told not to cancel any sports schedules at all. However, all the teachers and most of the staff have claimed unemployment benefit and are now job searching. Still, there is a little pocket of about 5-6 staff members that are confident that the school will be purchased and all will be well. I do not know the real answer to Freak's question. Officially, we are closing, we have not been told anything different (officially, that is). Rumours are rife though! DAVE
  10. My sources tell me that Brown is the favourite! DAVE
  11. David is undecided at the moment but I understand that he is leaning toward Jacksonville (he's from Florida). DAVE
  12. May well be! I am staying in the Best western with Coach Day and our two representatives but I'm sure that I can sneak out for one sometime during our stay. We travel up tomorrow (Thursday) for practices and then a banquet on Friday. If you come up early give us a shout. I'll PM you Coach Day's cell if you like (I don't have one). BTW - be sure to contact Randy Ward and register as press (and don't forget your paper's press pass). DAVE
  13. Look out for me again, Jim - I'm covering the game for both our school and our local newspaper. If any newspapers have representatives from the area playing but cannot cover the game, let me know and I will send a report. DAVE
  14. Here I am? A week late and a dollar short! Johnathan Uchendu is from Little Rock, Arkansas and has already signed for Purdue. He spent just his senior year here at MMI (soon to be Forest Hill Prep). Lawrence Brown is from Portsmouth, England and has been at MMI for his junior and senior years. (In England we graduate as the equivalent of a sophomore here). He is looking at about 5-6 Division I schools. Hope this helps. Someone PM me next time - I missed this going through. DAVE
