Ryle was the underdog, so it was a bit of an upset. The fact that they won pretty easily (from what I read), makes it a bonafide upset IMO.

Could it be that there is a protocol in place in these situations? There may be a specific way the body is delivered to the family in a ceremonial way. Perhaps singing the National Anthem, though well intentioned, would have disrupted what was planned. I have no idea, just throwing it out there. One of the FB posters even suggested she was making it all about herself.

I don't have a solution, but I don't thinks schools should be expected to fix everything that is wrong with kids these days. Let's face it, there are far more violent children in our schools than there were 20 years ago. It is not the schools' fault. I think most do the best they can, and if their efforts fail, they may need police protection. I know teachers who have terrible stories, usually due to absent parenting. Perhaps police...

Was there a thread about same sex private schools where people actually said that? I am not trying to be argumentative, I am just trying to see how you came to that conclusion.

I think that is a lot to lay on the school system. I think schools are overwhelmed by the bad hands getting dealt to them.

Great input! I deal with those "kids" after they turn 18 and feel the same way. Welcome or BGP!

I see no problem if it keeps the officer and the child safe. Might also send a message to other would be offenders. I would be interested in what a teacher who works with difficult children thinks.

So, are you going to fight it? You are obviously right, but might be more than an $8.00 headache to fix.

The Boy Scouts built a great program as did the Girl Scouts. If there were problems or discontent within the Girl Scouts, then change the Girl Scouts. Don't take over the boys program. As a woman, I find this embarrassing for my gender. There is something to be said for same gender clubs that build strength, self esteem, self worth, and friendships. Anytime boys and girls are mixed together, it changes the focus entirely.

Nothing! My daughter was also a Girl Scout. I thought the whole purpose was to develop friendships, fellowship, build self esteem among other girls. My son was a Boy Scout. I thought the same thing for him. Boy/girl relationships add a component that complicates the original intent of both programs.

As a woman, and former Girl Scout, I am against it. There is something to be said for clubs that allow you to develop in a healthy manner with members of your own sex. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have been independently successfull for decades. Why change now? Thoughts?

Big Zig, you and I came from the same era. I watched the game tonight with a Ludlow friend. Truly, I was hoping for a close game like we both remember. I respect the Ludlow community, and have no doubt we will duel again!

We had a crab apple trees once. We never picked them, so of course, they eventually fell off. Brought nothing but crows and bees. Would have gladly given permission to anyone who wamted them.

I have been around a lot of years, and have seen an overconfident Beechwood team lose to an underdog more than once. Doesn't happen often, but that's why they play the game. Looking forward to seeing Blackburn play. That being said, I still believe the Tigers will roll. Beechwood 35 Ludlow 14

I would be highly suspicious of your doctor friend. I know a lot of doctors in a variety of specialties. Not one of them would say that. I have a good friend who works as a pediactric ICU nurse. No way will she or her children ever miss a flu shot.

It is a shame that people today cannot travel back in time before there were vaccines. Back then, there were a whole lot of devastated parents who would have given anything to have prevented the deaths/disabilities their children suffered. Today parents have the luxury of debating the necessity of vaccines.

Beechwoodfan replied to a thread Flu shots in BGP Break Room
I know for most folks, including me, the flu is no big deal. I have had the flu before, survived, and felt my immune system was all the better for it. Flu shots are mandatory where I work. I used to think this was annoying. Over the years I have learned the following... 1. The flu is often fatal to the elderly and the very young. You do not fall into that category? You can still pass the flu onto those at risk. 2. Every year there...

Grew up eating bologna sandwiches on white bread with mustard. It's just a cold flat hot dog. Don't buy it myself but would still eat that same sandwich if I had it elsewhere.

We have had a health savings account for years, and I love it. Preventative care is 100% covered. If you are sick or injured you do have a big spend down, but it is money you should have put in the account already. After that, you are covered 100%. If you are not sick or injured, it is like a savings account. When you are spending your own money, it does make you think before you run to the ER. Obviously if it is a true emergency you are...

I have been lucky with my health insurance. Haven't needed it much, but it was there when I did. I can't think of one thing that the government runs efficiently. I work in health care. Can't tell you how many VETS I have taken care of who do not want to go to the VA. If my government treats our veterans like that, I surely do not want them taking care of me. I want the health care plan our Congress men and women and their families...

This happened to me right after the Sam Dubose shooting in Cincinnati. As we all know, Sam was an unarmed black man shot by a UC Police officer. I work in Cincinnati and live in NKY. At the time, there was great concern that there would be race riots in Cincinnati. I drive a VW Bug convertible. If the weather is good, it is my habit on Fridays to put the top down and sing my oldies all the way home. One part of my ride home involves...
