IN THE TRENCHES OF THE TIGER SOUL
  1. The Tampa Bay Bucs should draft this young man Right out of high school. As a 1976 NFL expansion team, it took them until 12-16-2007 to FINALLY run a kickoff back for a touchdown (31 flippin years). They had even won a Super Bowl & never run one back. Congratulations Young Man: NICE STAT
  2. GOOD FOR Y’ALL! Thanks for describing the Festivities / Events / Participation goin on. KEEP That Fire Lit! I’m a little removed (1000 miles away) from NKY. As per usual, always pullin for the Birds (and oh-yea, THE TIGERS).
  3. Well Said: You have defined what is wrong with our children’s mind set. The media has a lot to do with it. We have raised a generation of couch potatoes. Won’t be too many years, we’ll be outsourcing ALL Sports in this country. ML Baseball is a good example. Back in our day….we sweated it out, butted heads and pushed each other to the limit. One of the proudest achievements in my life was that I was a (tiny-small) part of a successful program @ BW. There are no regrets when you leave it all out on the field. I can live with myself as I am relegated to the couch forever. Teaching this to the kids and getting them to truly understand is one of the hardest things in life to do as an adult or parent. These kids don’t understand they only have 1 shot at it, and many don’t care. Many generations of families are keeping the fire lit within certain programs. This my friend, is the reason why HHS & BW continue with so many continuous years of success. Thank You to the Families / Friends / Fans / Support Base & Parents of these programs who labor behind the scenes to keep it alive. GO Bluebirds & GO Tigers! Bring those Titles Home (Again)!
  4. Back to Luuville, the birthplace of Cassius Clay, the man who called himself “the greatest”. “Just give ME the d@mn ball” is Keyshawn Johnson’s immortal words. Some fans can’t get enough pride, have you seen Jerry Jone’s face lately? Watching Stever Spurrier can make you break out in a rash. The reason some like to TALK about the championship is because they can’t watch themselves play. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “What kills a skunk is the publicity it gives itself”. Humility can be reclusive & shy, please accept an apology on behalf of the BW fan base who may have appeared overbearing & self confident. If fools wore crowns, we’d all be kings. We could all use to wash out our ego once in a while because pride brings its own sting. Please forgive any of us who may have stepped over the line. Question: Does Bluto (All American) get to sing the National Anthem just because?
  5. On Mayor Bluto’s multiple (tongue in cheek) comments: Just Say "NO" to “Stirring It Up”. We don’t believe Tostitoes, Fedex & Nokia will be looking for new commentary anytime soon. The BW Football Program Family Tree is not a stump (Founded 1860). Lay the pipe down. Keep the Mo-Jo TIGERS! Stay Focused and let your Family & Friends drown out the background noise!
  6. Yeha – This means I get to travel & meet up with a bunch of old (guy) war heroes in NKY. It’s always a Sweet Reunion. Thanks Frankfort, for being gracious and exhibiting the class of sportsmanship only found in a true champion. Till we meet again, Wishing the Frankfort fans, players and coaches the most respectable honor and Thank You.
  7. Man, I wish I could be there!! Me too, I'm excited. The rest of the action happens on the field. Put the pots on and buckle the straps gentlemen, this is going to be a good one. Are you ready for some football?
  8. Unc-5 “I will agree to disagree, in the late 70's BHS was not any good, sorry. Things really got going in the mid 80's and progressed from there. Who knows, I may be as old if not older and maybe was very close to the situation myself? The men who got the program airborne @ BW (Please Forgive the long windedness in Advance) Sorry couldn’t help but spit out a little history, but when you’re carrying this stuff for 40 yrs, sometimes you gotta let it go. Please correct me if I’m wrong on something. Roger Walz (late 60’s) till 72 Took 2 teams to first round Fred Mariani HC (Former Asst @ Highlands) (hated-feared-revered and LOVED by everyone who played for him) BUT: He took BW to the PROMISED LAND Bernie Barre Asst Barry Baker Asst John Alford Asst John Powell Asst 73-Beat everybody but Ludlow (District game - lost by 6 inches) 11-1 record – No playoffs 74-Same Staff as above (Class of 75) Lost title game in last 1:30 to play after scoring 3X (called back by refs) Murray HS State Champ-Elevated to Class AAA the next year. Look back for a kid named Mike Murray @ BW who led most of the stats in NKY Also Brad Hood led a defense who was stingy and tough Mike Yeagle dressed for the state game and I believe Mike Bowling did also. A Cheerleader from those days participates on this forum as she passes the torch to her son. Edgar McNabb would monitor and kick everyone off the field so that the BW bluegrass stayed pristine Only one allowed on the field (at anytime) was GAME DAY. The field was a thing of beauty & pride. Look at the players last names back through the sixties and it reminds you of Deliverance. The pride in this program is passed down 3rd-4th-5th generation to generation. First Taste of the Big Show-Was the Day after Thanksgiving 1974 Look for the little black & white photo in the trophy case. Back then, the State Runner-up was the biggest hardware, in a trophy case the size of your fridge. The flame was lit. The program was on fire. Nothing Short of a State Championship would satisfy. Some of these families go back 75-100 years enrolled @ BW. This FB program is inbred, knitted in the very fabric of their lives and families. Biggest problem BW ever had was losing the neighborhood kids to CovCath. That’s why it’s such a Grudge Match today. The Unsung Heroes: Tom Richardson-Gary Meyer 2 Guys that voluntarily ran the chains during BW’s home games decided in 68-69 to organize the Spartans. 3 different divisions were established. The players had to stand outside of Kroger’s & ask for money. For the first five years, a Spartan team couldn’t hardly win a game. But this was the impetuous that established the FEEDER Program. These boys have the opportunity to develop and play together from an early age. Now days the parents throw the money at the program and fight to get in the district, supporting the goal as early as the 3rd -4th grade. By the time they’re Seniors, you can imagine how hungry they’ve become. B. Barre carried the torch from there and finally allowed us to rest in peace. Long Live the Ft Mitchell Spartans & The Beechwood Tigers!:thumb:
  9. High Life Says: “The Beechies certainly aren't very humble...They'll have a different attitude Saturday morning”……… Your joy & excitement is respected and appreciated. Congrats on FHS elevating their program to the Final 4 level. Now, two important things to say: 1) Talk is Cheap (see your comments above) 2) In Order to BE the Man, YOU gotta Beat the Man. The Mo-Jo that motivates the Beechies Program goes back 30-40-50 years…… Humbly & Quietly, (the Tigers on the field) will methodically execute until the clock shows 0:00. Let us know what it feels like to get run over by a Mack Truck. Maybe next time y’all will have to travel to NKY to play BW. Fort Mitchell welcomes you; THE BEECHWOOD TIGERS FOOTBALL PROGRAM IS PRICELESS! Me-thinks Your Saturday Morning BLUES are at hand…….. If not, then hand me a shovel to eat that humble pie……. (Been there & Done That Too). It’s a game of inches and some luck…….. Good Luck to your team (each of us needs all the luck we can get in this world). Go TIGERS! Feast on Them……Bring Home the Hardware!:fight:
  10. How about a web-simultaneous (radio) broadcast. Any ideas? Still looking in from Florida!
  11. This game will be webcast by WKRC-TV. I can't find a link on their website. Would someone be kind enough to provide? Does anyone know a simultaneous Web Radio Broadcast available (link please) THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, WE WANT TO HEAR IT IN FLORIDA!
