Vin Scully translates for BGP

Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is a national treasure for myriad reasons, but we saw just one facet of his abilities tonight, when umpires declared a liner off Shane Victorino's bat to have been trapped by Rockies center fielder Dexter Fowler. It would have been the third out of the inning, and it sent Colorado manager Jim Tracy on a verbal warpath—one Scully did his best to lipread, then translate into language for suitable for television.



After the whole thing was over, and Tracy had been sent packing, Scully drolly noted "We have all this technology and they don't use it because they say it would delay the game. Well, what was that we just saw?" We welcome any and all future opportunities to allow Vin Scully to further demonstrate why he's the greatest there ever was, and likely ever will be.

Scully is blinking great, one of a dying breed

Sorry. I tried but I just can't do it. I made it to the 1:30 mark in the clip and I just had to stop listening. I have never cared for Scully and that clip reconfirmed it. The guy never shuts up. He is in the booth by himself because no one would ever have a second to say their name let alone offer a comment or different point of view. I find the guy irritating to listen to. I know I am in the minority on that but that is how he hits me - annoying.

Scully is about third behind Marty Brennaman and everyone else

This has to be the most blasphemic (yeah, I think I just made that up) post in the history of BGP. You're not in the minority on this one, you're the ONLY one.

I like Scully but I kind of got bored/annoyed with this.
