Have to look at the whole picture, hes one foul ball away from never playing again if he stays behind the plate and gets a career ending concussion. If his legs/hips are starting to age due to wear an tear (remember he was IMO overused in the minors before coming up) thats not a good sign either. Wouldnt it be best to put him (and the team) in a better situation to prolong his career? If not then they need to part ways with him now, while they can still get something of value for him.

Finally a game that was not close. Unfortunately, went the other way.

Classic "getaway day" scenario. Get down early. Pack it in. Play quick. Get on the charter. That's what I saw. Anyone disagree? If so, not a very encouraging sign this early in the season.

Why would you not get Diaz an inning of work in a non-stressful environment. Gregg pitched yesterday, but maybe him as well.

Why would Price not have challenged the DP with Negron? Seemed close enough to me. Would be 1st & 3rd w/ 1 out rather than 3rd only with 2 outs. Seemed like he didn't want to slow down getting to the charter. (That's probably an unfair shot, but I needed to type it.)

Byrd has a long, slow swing with lots of holes in it. He plays a much better LF than I expected, but Reds (like most teams) need offense rather than defense out of the corner outfield and infield positions.

Villareal looked good in a meaningless outing.

Was fully expecting Bruce to hit a meaningless HR late in the game.

BTW -- I fast forwarded through the game. What was the deal with Soler and the facemask. Other players didn't even have long sleeves on. Soft (but I would NOT say that to his face -- dude is chiseled!)

Only thing they can do, that could benefit him in a Reds uniform, is teach him to play LF.

I'm just happy they are staying relevant right now. This isn't a good team.

Changing Mesoraco's position really makes no sense for the Reds. I get trying to keep him healthy, but the only other positions he could possibly play would be 1st and LF and maybe 3rd. At these positions you have Votto at 1st and Frazier at 3rd with Winker knocking down the door as the LFer of the future. Mesoraco is a young and talented all around catcher and moving him would leave the Reds with a huge hole at the catcher position.

Marquis and Gregg on the same staff, that's how you win big money in daily fantasy baseball.
