Allen just didn't have it last night.

Those are the first runs he's given up since June 9th.

Very interesting comment from Votto that he took the 3-1 pitch because I walk would tie the game and he knew he'd get another pitch to hit at 3-2.

With the way @sumoroyal talks about Votto's baseball IQ I'm shocked he knew it was that way.

Trevor Bauer seemed to have some issue with, or seemed to be taunting Votto a bit last night. Is there a history between those two?

I read that Bauer had shook off the catcher 8 times prior to the pitch that he struck Votto out on. He said it was because he knows Votto is a smart hitter and would know his tendencies in every count. Therefore he had to figure out what to throw that Votto wouldn't expect.

I don't think it was any issue or history. Just a chess match (as Bauer called it).

From what I've heard about Bauer he's just a jerk in general.

Votto can say that after the game is over, but his reaction when he took the 3-1 strike was anything but that thought, pitch was right down the middle of the plate. He was kicking himself for taking it at the time. Again, it worked, he is the hero of the night. Had it not, he is saying something different.

That's lower than his normal average isn't it?

Probably because he was looking for a different type of pitch and got fooled in spite of the location. He wasn't prepared for it and instead of taking a bad swing he took it.

Votto with a good effort to dive for that ball while he is standing on first base, keeps it in the infield, but allows the hit. Gotta make that play if you are an All Star.
