    Reds at Dodgers (4/15 - 4/17)

Reds open up their west coast swing tonight with a 10:10pm first pitch against the Dodgers. Games times are:

    Mon- 10:10pm
    Tue- 10:10pm
    Wed- 3:10pm

I hate the west coast swings as I'm always asleep by first pitch, but let's keep the momentum going Redlegs!

Luis Castillo (0.92 ERA) vs Clayton Kershaw

Have to love Castillo's chances of keeping us in this one. Hopefully they can work some counts and get the pitch count up early rather than the typical Kershaw domination for 7-8 innings. It will be Kershaw's first start this season, here's to hoping he's not as sharp as usual.

    From C.Trent

Well, this is a #Reds lineup:
    Casali 2
    Suarez 5
    Puig 9
    Kemp 7
    Peraza 4
    Iglesias 6
    Schebler 8
    Farmer 3
    Castillo 1

    Two notes:
    • It's Casali's first start as a leadoff man since he was a freshman at New Canaan (CT) High School
    • The lineup has 5 former #Dodgers

That single in the ninth inning yesterday must have wore Votto out. Two off days out of the first 15. That is about 20 off days a year.

Well, the stinky lineup got the job done. Reds lead 3-2 headed to the bottom of the 9th. Former Dodgers Puig and Kemp have driven in all three runs. Kemp singles in the go ahead run with two outs in the 9th off Jansen, scoring leadoff hitter Casali, who doubled leading off the inning. Can Iglesias close it out?

And the answer is no. Igelsias walks the leadoff hitter. Next batter Pederson hits a 2 run HR. Dodgers win 4-3.

Impressive to roll out with that lineup and even be in it to have a shot at the end, but they Reds need to figure Iggy out quickly.

Tyler Mahle vs Kenta Maeda tonight.

Reds need to right the ship tonight and get a W. 10:10 first pitch.

How much difference does Scooter or Senzel make to this lineup and it's production? Last night was another one run loss. They've had many of those already. Do Scooter or Senzel change those outcomes?

I can't think of anything more irritating than a relief pitcher coming in and walking the first batter they face. I would make it clear to my relief pitchers that if they walk the first batter they face, they are putting their job in jeopardy. One of the key stats being tracked now is first pitch strikes. Pitchers have to believe in their stuff and be aggressive in the strike zone.

Votto is leading off and strikes out swinging on a pitch nearly in the dirt. Two years ago he never said swings at a pitch like that. I do not know what is wrong with him but he is definitely not the same hitter.
