Winker had a rough day yesterday and hasn’t been up to expectations this season but the guy is hitting .387 over the last 8 games, so let’s pump the brakes on the ridiculous talk of replacing a 25 year old dude that has done nothing but hit at every level he’s been at.

I look at the Reds this way. My expectations right now is that they are not ready to win a World Championship. This team is a lot more entertaining to watch than previous years. The pitching is pretty good. They strike out a lot of batters and keep the team in the game most times. Granted, the hitting is all over the place. You never know what you are going to get day to day. As I mentioned in a previous post somewhere, I enjoy the swagger that some of the players have. They have confidence and they are going to get better. Votto is probably realizing that he is not the same player that he used to be. Yet, he is trying to adjust to someone who can help the team and set the table for others. The Reds defense (especially in the infield) is very good - fun to watch. If you go to a game, you should have a good time - win or lose. You may even get a free pizza.

Gray gives up a run in the first inning and throws 32 pitches. Call to the bullpen early.

You can't have a guy ground into a double play most of time with men on base. That is called a rally killer.

Scherzer retires the Reds on 9 pitches.

So what do the Redlegs do with Puig if he never really gets going? I was pretty sure they'd deal him by the trade deadline but I don't know what the Redlegs can expect to get for him at this point.

    And Winker..........fundamentals son!

I like the pinstripe uniforms, but not the pinstripe hat with them.

Gray did a nice job battling Scherzer. Reds trail 2-1 hitting in the sixth.

Scherzer is just absolutely nasty. Hopefully one more inning and he is done. At 94 pitches.

Welp, not a great turn in the rotation for me. Who is up next?

I'd say @ChickenWyngz is due up next, but he hasn't had much luck against the Cards so far this year. Maybe we should back him up a series and start him against the Phillies. @futurecoach, you want to take the ball in St. Louis?

He’s had 6 all season. To say he does it most of the time is just blatantly false.

I would guess when Scooter is ready to come back that Puig will be dealt to a contending team that needs a RH bat with some pop.
