Mike Trout: ROY and MVP?
Chances he doesn't win MVP?
78 runs (in only 80 games)
.351 avg
31 SB
17 HR
53 RBI
1.008 OPS
MVP?

Better question is there anyone else that warrants consideration? Cano, maybe?

Miguel Cabrera has to be in the discussion, I think. Cespedes from Oakland is coming on strong as well.
Right now, though, I give it to Trout.

ROY has been wrapped up. MVP, there is still a lot of season left for that one to be decided.

Trout and Cano are the top two candidates ... if Trout maintains this level of performance, he warrants it even though he missed a handful of games at the start of the season.

Depending on what happens in Oakland, I think you might see Cespedes as the MVP..

That is false actually. He has played in 72 games this year and has 14 HR's, 54 RBI's...his stats aren't as good as either Cano's or Trout's but he has had a big impact on his team. This is a Most valuable player award, not a player of the year award and if the A's make the playoff, you can make a case for him.

If anyone other than Trout or Cabrera win it the award has simply lost all credibility. Trout has to be the landslide favorite at this point.

When Trout gets two strikes on him he has an OBP of .354 which is second in MLB to Votto at .390 .

According to Jayson Starks this morning on Mike and Mike, before Trout joined the Angels they had the worst record in the AL. Since joining they have the best record in baseball.

Good article on Trout in the newest SI.
Best player in baseball (maybe) and he's younger than 4 of the top 9 players drafted THIS YEAR.

This is one of the more fascinating MVP races in quite a while.
Trout has only played in 137 games yet leads the league in runs by 20 and leads the league in stolen bases. He is 2nd in batting average. 2nd in OPS.
Cabrera can win the Triple Crown.
I still lean towards Trout.

If Trout wins the MVP, the award has officially lost all it's value. No way should anyone not named Miguel Cabrera (assuming he doesn't choke away the 3x Crown) even receive a 1st place vote.
