I'm assuming Cozart is in the hospital at this point....
If he had a stomach bug it's probably a good idea to let him sit another day. Valdez had 3 hits yesterday. Might as well run him back out there.

I'm glad Valdez got his 3 hits last night because if he didn't this thread would be in meltdown mode right now
2 straights starts for Valdez, Woohoo!!!

Nope. Brain cramp. But it sure wasn't showboating. Nice try.

Don't know why people make such a big deal out of throwing 120 pitches in a game once in awhile. Go back and look at the great staffs of the Atlanta Braves when they had Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux. I know that Maddux was a freak in that he completed a lot of games in less than 100 pitches but if you look at their stats from 1993-1999 this was their average innings and number of complete games for that 7 year period. 1994 was a strike shortened year also. Heck Nolan Ryan once threw an unofficial 238 pitches in one extra inning game. Unless a pitcher is coming back from an injury or is young and they are monitoring their early career innings, let them go deep once in awhile. Cueto threw an easy 120 pitches last night and never really had a long inning and the weather wasn't overly oppressive.
Glavine 220 innings/per 21 complete games
Smoltz 204 innings/per 22 complete games
Maddux 232 innings/per 51 complete games

^Agree. But if not for BP's showboating he'd have only thrown 119.

I wouldn't bet the mortgage that he repeats his efforts of last night.

We're in agreement. It seems most every time I complain about the lineup they end up doing well...

I don't think he was showboating as much as he didn't have too many other options. Backhand on the run going up the middle with the runner hustling down the line is not an easy play.

He had PLENTY of time to gather his footing and make a strong throw.

Not after he decided to shorthop it. Had he busted and caught it on the big hop I agree. But he was married to it when he decided to sweep and pick it.

The play were he let the guy get to third on the bunt the other night was 100% hot dogging it...

Do you really think so? I swear I think he simply had a braincramp. What did he do that was flashy or hot dogging? Serious question

From my vantage point at the stadium, he looked in the stands started giving a little "swagger" and a big grin to the fans.

I believe you. And it's not above the showman to do it. It didn't look that way on TV. Looked like he literally forgot there was a threat remaining.

This umpire calls the lowest strike I have seen in a long time.

Is that Bill Bray in the dugout? I thought he was on minor league assignment in Dayton.
