The Reds have a few issues/problems but Homer is definitely one. I defended him awhile ago but I no longer can. He is (as GT pointed out) the worst starting pitcher in baseball this year and him pitching hurts the Reds.

Scooter 137 ABs (4th most in NL) with RISP - 59 RBI .321/.368/.504
Suarez 121 ABs (11th most in NL) with RISP - 61 RBI .322./.439/.554
Peraza 111 ABs (20th most in NL with RISP - 37 RBI .261/.317/.342
Barnhart 110 ABs (24th most in NL) with RISP - 25 RBI .209/.328/.245
Votto 108 ABs (31st most in NL) with RISP - 48 RBI .333/.472/.509

What more do you want him to do?

Out of all NL hitters with 100 ABs with RISP he's tied 8th in Average, 3rd in OBP, 23rd in SLG. His power is down a little compared to years past but some of us are acting like he's a role player.

Amazing what facts can do to a discussion, isn't it?

And the reference to Duvall earlier, he still has more bats with RISP than Votto and has been gone over a month.

He might make a start or even a couple of starts. If he put up a 6.31 ERA he'd be released in a minute. He has a 6.31 ERA. That isn't a hard luck pitcher. That is the ERA of a position player pitching.

If the Reds want to compete next year they have to trade some pieces for a #1 starter and maybe a #2 starter. Will be tough to pull off but that is where we are..if you look at our starting potential line up next year, we run a pretty good team out there. Here is my line up
    1. Peraza
    2. Votto
    3. Suarez
    4. Scooter
    5. Senzel
    6. Winker
    7. Barnhart
    8. Schebler
    9. Pitcher/India *when we get to play AL teams
That is a great starting line up if you ask me, and you can go right/left the whole lineup if you choose too
Now the question what could you trade to get a #1 (Votto, Irvin,Herrera,Trammell??) would love to hear some thoughts. For me Votto would get a lot in return and I think he will start declining sooner than later. The Mets have 2 guys that would make us a contenders in Degron and Wheeler. If we have one of the best farm systems out there and according to several people we do, then we need to make a move now and go all in... THOUGHTS?

Where are you playing everyone? Seems like too many infielders, and not enough OFers.

You trade Scooter and a couple high level prospects. That's your best bet for a #1 IMO.

Package Scooter, India and Santillan. Would that be enough for a #1?

Also this team is going to have to spend some money on pitching....Do they go after a #1 in free agency (Dallas Keuchel or Patrick Corbin possibly?) or do they do nothing like the past several seasons?

Looking at 12 for 5, or 15+ for 5 there.
