    Cy Young Winners

As expected, Snell and deGrom are the winners. Snell with well under 200 innings pitched and deGrom with a 10-9 record.

Saw a fascinating stat yesterday....DeGrom led the majors in ERA. The Mets went 14-18 in his 32 starts, with DeGrom going 10-9. Lucas Giolito of the White Sox had the worst ERA in the majors among qualified starters of 6.13. The White Sox went 14-18 in his 32 starts, with Giolito going 10-13.

And yet, we still have people who think it's wise to judge a pitcher's worth based on W-L records...

They said this morning that in 9 of DeGrom's starts he allowed 1 or fewer runs and went more than 6 innings (believe it was) and the Mets lost all 9 of those games.

    That's incredible.

I don't follow baseball and I'm not doubting the people who do, but I'm fascinated that a 10-game winner won the Cy Young Award.

Basically it comes down to the fact that W-L record is meaningless in determining a pitchers worth.

Is 10 wins the lowest number of wins ever for a Cy Young winner (excluding relief pitchers)?

Not sure. I know Felix Hernandex won it a few years ago with just 12 or 13 wins. I think his record was right around .500 too.
