Christian County Wrestling
The Christian County Wrestling Team finished 10th at the Oldham County Super Duals this last Saturday. The Colonels finished 2-3 in the dual matches. The Colonels lost to Oldham County 48-45, Woodford County 61-18, defeated Franklin County 55-23 and Corydon, IN 53-30 and finished the day with a loss to Louisville Eastern 54-30.
Wrestling well for the Colonels were Jake Skinner 5-0 on the day at 130, Cory Armstrong at 152 and Calvin McNeely at 160 were 4-1 and John Teague at 140 was 3-2 on the day. The Colonels next wrestle at Hopkinsville this Thursday. Then the Saturday the Varsity goes to Nelson County for the Nelson County Duals, while the JV goes to Hopkinsville for the Orange and Black tournament.
The Christian County wrestling team wrestled 7 matches this week. They went 3-4 on the week, putting their season record at 5-7. The Colonels defeated Hopkinsville High school 50-30 and Fort Campbell 48-35. The Colonels then traveled to Nelson County for the Nelson County Duals. It was a difficult day for our wrestlers. The team had to forfeit 3 matches to start then had a wrestler get injured in the second match so they started down 24 points in the remaining matches. The Colonels lost to Nelson County 39-34, Meade County 47-33, Anderson County 39-35, and Letcher County Central 48-39. The team did defeat Larue County 45-42.
Wrestling well for the Colonels were Cory Armstrong at 152, Jake Skinner at 130, and Donnie Thomas at 215 each was 7-0 for the week. Also wrestling well were Dee Leavell 6-1 at 119, and John Teague 5-2 at 140. The Colonels next wrestle Thursday at Calloway County versus Calloway and Paducah Tilghman. They then travel the Caldwell County on Saturday for the Annual Armstrong Tiger Classic.
The Christian County wrestling team competed in duals versus Calloway County and Paducah Tilghman High School this evening. The Colonels defeated Calloway County 51-24 and Paducah Tilghman 51-24. This evens the Colonels duals match record at 7-7 on the season. Wrestling well for the Colonels were: Dustin Frazier at 112, Dee Leavell at 119, Dustin Thomas at 125/130, Jake Skinner at 130/135, John Teague at 140, Cory Armstrong at 152, Calvin McNeely at 160, Preston Lashley at 189, and Donnie Thomas at 215 each finished 2-0 on the day. The Thomas brothers, McNeely and Lashley each pinned both of their opponents. The Colonels next wrestle Saturday at Caldwell County in the Armstrong Tiger Classic.
The Christian County wrestling team score 148½ to placed 5th missing 4th place by only ½ point at this weekends Armstrong Tiger Classic held at Caldwell County High School. The Colonels wrestled well with 3 Champions and one wrestler tying for 3rd. The Champions included Jake Skinner at 130 who pinned Paul Marks of Louisville Eastern in their finals match at 3:09 of the 2nd period. This now runs Skinners record to 17-0 on the season. Cory Armstrong won the title at 152, 4-2 over Cody Traylor of Caldwell County with a takedown in sudden death overtime. This now runs Armstrong season record to 16-1. The final champion for the Colonels was Donnie Thomas at 215. He defeated his opponent Glenn Frost of John Hardin with a pin at 3:43 of the 2nd period. Thomas was down 10-1 at the time of his victory. This runs Thomas’s season record 12-0. Other Colonels wresting well include Dustin Thomas who finished tied for 3rd at 125, Xavier Castro 2-2 at 135, Calvin McNeely 2-2 at 160 and Martez Price 2-2 at 285. The Colonels next wrestle at the Tuscaloosa County Duals in Tuscaloosa Alabama on the 22nd of December.
