I think this issue was discussed at a coaches association meeting this past Monday. I think it was pretty much shot down and ignored...

I do not know how many seed vs. draw on the volleyball side. I know on the side of girls soccer that most of the districts in the state have a seeding plan on file with the KHSAA. There are a few that still do not seed and that is mostly due to the weaker teams in the district banding together to prevent a majority in a vote to change to seeding because they stand a better chance to make the region in a blind draw.

I think it is split just like soccer, but do not know exact numbers.

Exactly...and that is why that power to seed or not seed should not be left in each schools hands to decide!!

I agree with you to an extent. Although like a previous poster stated, trusting the KHSAA to do the right thing isn't always easy.

Allowing the schools, who are the ones effected and affected, to decide, IS the right thing to do. You shouldn't always rely on a "big brother" mentality to decide issues. Its the same with State Government, even your local Board. Some issues, you have to get in there, fight for, and if you don't win, then maybe it isn't the best idea for ALL involved. But don't always just sit back and complain that big brother (for you in the case, KHSAA) is the one doing the wrong thing.

But the way it is set up you are not allowing the schools effected and affected to decide.

By letting each district decide on their own you are effecting ALL the teams in the Regional competition and all those teams do not have a vote.

Once again I'll say the current set-up (some districts seeding by result, some districts seeding by vote, some blind draw) is the absolute most stupid and unfair way of doing it that anyone could possibly come up with.

I think the issue is that everyone is competing in the same tournament but not everyone is competing under the same rules in the early stages of the tourney. Some uniformity one way or the other is what I think people are looking for. Whether that comes from the KHSAA or the schools doesn't matter to me. IMHO the best process is the use of seeding based on regular season record against in-district opponents.

Any team with any sense would watch St.Henry warm up and say that. Some of the teams who have those 38 wins try to schedule the "great ones" with out even so much as a call back. can't say I blame them, but don't condemn the teams with 38 wins who are trying. Louisville and Northern kentucky needs to brush the chip off there shoulder and give the new comers a chance. That will help raise the level of the state tourney quicker than anything.

Sorry Boom road trips to the mountains isnt worth it even with an invitation..the only thing were brushing off our shoulders are the 1st round matches against these teams......if you reallllllly want to raise your level of play is to start a club program so these kids have a real chance to compete at the "great ones" level...until than cakewalk......"my gawd those girls are amazing" step up and change something...

Thanks for the advice. BUT we already have a club program and you won't have to travel to play us. We will come to you. You line up a game with any Northern ky or Louisville team and I am pretty sure I can get one South Central Ky team to come play it. In fact I know for a fact they will come. PM me. But once again thanks for the advice. I look forward to help schedule a game and starting a new long lasting rivalry..
