A volleyball slug fest in the inferno that is the gym at Scott HS. Cooper jumped out to an early lead in game one only to see Scott rally back within a point or 2 several times. Cooper finished with a strong rally to finish out game 1.
Game 2 was just the opposite as Scott took the lead and Cooper had to battle back. The Jags were able to get close but the heat in the gym looked to be taking its toll toward the end of game 2.
Game 3 showed Scott's true potential. Scott took an early lead and continued to press. Critical defensive plays and long rallys seem to drain the Cooper squad more than the Eagles as Scott went on to take a commanding lead and not look back.
Games 4 and 5 were perfect examples of what you look for in any sporting event you pay money to watch. Both teams at times looked dominating. The emotion in the gym was palpable and if it weren't for the heat you would of had goose bumps just watching. Both squads took turns digging out the other teams best hits. Plays seemingly dead because of an errant pass or great hit were dug off the floor by a miraculous diving pancake or saved by a players speed chasing it out of bounds.
In the end the strength of Scott's serve faltered in game five as they put several serves in the net or out the back and the early lead they built quickly dimished turning into a dog fight to the end.
