Default St Henry Girl's Cross Country 2012

    Nice article from NKY.com:
St Henry Rebuilding-It's Only 15 Runners Deep

"Few cross country teams lose six of their top seven runners and remain in the running for a regional championship. Even fewer finish ahead of the pack. But talent runs deep and expectations run high for defending state champion St. Henry, where the girls are aiming for an 11th consecutive Class A title.

“We lost so much that you can definitely say it’s a rebuilding year,” said coach Tony Harden, who has guided the Crusaders to seven state titles in nine years. “But I’ve been surprised by the girls who are coming back. We’re deeper than I thought we’d be and I’m anxious to see what they can do.”

St. Henry, expected to be challenged this season by Bishop Brossart, Villa Madonna and Ludlow, opens the schedule Aug. 25 in Louisville at the St. Xavier Tiger Run.

Sophomore Sam Hentz is the Crusaders’ lone returning varsity runner. She finished fourth at the regional and 16th at the state meet. After Hentz, 14 runners are jockeying for varsity positions. Among the leading candidates is freshman Renee Svec, whose sister Ashley Svec, a 2011 graduate, is a former regional champion.

“Renee’s definitely got running in her blood and she’s running well this summer,” Harden said. “The first thing I told her was I’m not going to compare her to her sister because it’s not fair. Ashley was one of the best I’ve had. I challenged Renee to become our third runner and we’ll go from there.”

Harden expects junior Taylor Connett to become his No. 2 runner. Connett and fellow newcomer Lauren Cahill have had success running for the track team. The coach said senior Sydney Potts has regained the form that enabled her to finish 22nd at state as a sophomore. Senior Cayla Kunstek was an emerging runner last season before being slowed by a stress fracture in her leg. She’s healthy and ready to run."

I have no doubt that Coach Tony Hardin will be successful in rebuilding this team.
Good Luck to the young Lady Cru!
