    Male 3 Ballard 1

Was able to make it across town to take this one in last night, and was well worth the trip.
Male's senior pitcher, and pre-season presumed #2 , Hannah Poynter, who has pitched herself into a 1A or possible #1 position, especially after her performance on the recent Spring Break trip, was given the circle to start the game.
Poynter is not a blow it past you, "power" pitcher, however she does have nice velocity. Her strength is her spin and movement. As Ballard's hitters found, it is difficult to barrel up anything solid on her, scattering just 6 hits over 7 innings with 4 Ks.
Male got the scoring going early with an RBI single from Suski in the 1st, followed by a double from leadoff hitter, Taylor Childress in the 3rd, who stole 3B, and scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1.
Ballard answered with their lone run in bottom of the frame, but was quickly countered when senior SS, and Campbellsville signee, Madison Mudd lead off the 4th with a towering HR deep over the LF fence, making it 3-1 which is where it would stay.
In bottom of the 7th, Mack Henderson gave Ballard a glimmer of hope with a lead off 2B. Suski was brought in to replace Poynter, and plunked the batter with her first pitch, but that was as close as it got, with a CS at 3rd, a foul out and a K to end the game.
It was an exciting game to watch because of the close score throughout. Male had a lot of base running miscues which kept it closer than it should have been, though.
