Kentucky Xplosion - 2012 Slammerfest
The Xplosion go 2-0 today and win their pool in the 2012 Slammerfest in Georgetown, Ky
In game one this morning, the Xplosion put a "thumping" on the KC Diamond Gems (Ashland, Ky) 14-2 in 3 innings. The 2nd inning the Xplosion hang a "10 spot" on the Gems. Taylor Burkart (NewCath) plates 2 with a bases loaded shot to left and Jessica Koors (Cooper) plates 2 as well with a "missile" over the leftfielders head for a triple. Lauren Willett (Cooper) collects 2 hits in the inning. Jenna Johnson (Boone Co.) was on her game on the mound only allowing a handful of hits.
In game two it was the Xplosion 8-2 over the Lexington Riot. Star of the game was Kelsea Satchwell (Gallatin Co.), as she hits a 2 run triple in the 1st, a sac-fly in the 3rd, & a solo homerun in the 6th. Dallis Knotts (Boone Co.) had her change-up working and kept the Riot of balance. Although they did threaten in the 3rd with two on, however Taylor Burkart chases down a liner in rightcenter and fires to Maddie Graham (Boone Co.) at 1st as they get the runner who thought the ball was going to hit the grass for the inning ending double play. In the 4th, and the Xplosion up 5-1, the Riot plate 1 on a wild pitch and load the bases with 1 out. However Dallis Knotts induces a grounder to Carlee McCarthy (Boone Co.) at short who gets the force at home and then an inning ending grounder to Lauren Willett who flips on to 1st.
The Xplosion play tommorow at 2:00 in the one and out bracket play. The following is a link to the tourney, pools, & bracket. CK Slammers: 2012 Tournament Info.

The Xplosion win 7-2 over Gateway Heat in the quarterfinals, however in the semifinals they muster only 1 hit against the Kentucky Rockets, a Kelsea Satchwell (Gallatin Co.) double in the bottom of the 6th. and lose 2-0. The Rockets score 1 in the top of 5 and another in the top of the 7th. Dallis Knotts (Boone Co.) pitched one hell of a game giving up only 4 hits, 2 of which were "texas leagers", but hits nonetheless. The defense was stellar for both teams in this game. The only game all season they were shutout in.
