Beechwood Soccer Update
They have 18 girls on the roster, and their first game is Wednesday 8/20 at Bellevue at 5 pm. We're gonna have a good crowd of supporters! They have 10 games scheduled right now. Only 2 are home games, and those will be played at Ft. Mitchell Park.

Just curious, how many of the 18 girls are upper classman (9-12)? Is the field at the park regulation size? By looking at it, seems to be small.
I guess boys soccer will come next yr?? While they are at it, they might as well add wrestling for the boys and because of title IX add field hockey for the girls.

These girls deserve the same opportunity to play soccer as the boys playing football. Good for Beechwood!!!

Boys soccer would be a great addition at Beechwood .:flame: How much interest is there ?

Haven't we covered much of this before?

If it was I wouldn't have asked! Last numbers listed were like 14 girls, now there is 18 so I wanted to know how many were actually in H.S. Believe me, I am not crying either. I have not horse in the race!:fight:

They don't have to 'add' teams unless there are enough girls/boys to 'field' a team. If there is interest they submit that in writing, then get committments from students to be on the team. That is the only way that any school would have to offer a sport that isn't currently offered at their school.

Nice column in the paper about Coach Rash's support of all BW sports.

It was a nice column, but could he really say anything different?

According to the paper they had that many girls in high school playing and about that same amount playing in middle school.

If he had only talked the talk that would be one thing but actually showing up to watch BW swim in a regional with having no blood relatives swimming tells me he also walks the walk.

True enough. I was thinking more about the soccer comments.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, I think boys soccer at Beechwood isn't too far away.

I think that you will see boys track before boys soccer.
Last time there the survey was done ... it was at the top of the list (by far).
As far as Coach Rash goes ... his motives really can't be questioned. He has consistently made time to be at every event possible regardless of sport, age, gender, etc.
He is a Beechwood supporter through and through ... without question.

Did he support soccer when some were trying to get it established or was he on the sidelines then?

The 18 girls are all 9 - 12 grade.

Either missed quoted or misread article. You are saying they have 18 HS players and 18 middle school players?? I think they are saying there is 18 players, period!

The quantity of posts you have made on the subject suggest otherwise.

UNC-5 read my last post: there are 18 girls from grades 9 - 12 on the JV roster. I've seen the roster and I've seen the girls practicing. I have no idea how many middle school girls play, because they are not playing with or practicing with the high school girls.
Lots of girls in the pipeline, too. I saw the 5th and 6th grade rec teams practicing at Ft. Mitchell Park today. I won't try to guess how many were there, but there were enough girls to form 2 rec teams entirely of Beechwood girls.
