This team will have it's growing pains with a new coach and young players. They have the Keirnan girl who will be a good player but all the other up and coming players have to step up and play well. Losing 4 starting Seniors is a tuff challenge for any team. They didn't play many players off the bench last year. The back up point guard and the Mayes girls seen some playing time as freshman. Scoring points is where I see them having issues. But with time they will be a team to watch out for.

I agree. They will be very young and with graduating four seniors they will lack varsity experience. Correct me if I am wrong, but according to their roster I believe they only have one senior returning as well. They will definitely be young. Will also be interesting to see how they do without Ronnie Dawn as head coach. He was one of the best and most well respected coaches in the area and it will be difficult for anyone to replace him. Good luck to the Breds for a successful 2012-13 season.

I agree with your assesment. Keirnan will be solid. IMO Siebert, Mayes and Ware will be the key to NCC's success this year. If those 3 players play to their potential then I think NCC will have a very good year. There are others as well but IMO those 3 are very talented players who will have to grow up this year. If they do then I think NCC could be Very good!!!

You can throw Jr. Stephanie Lewis in this category.

Yes good call. I didn't mean to slight Stephanie at all just forgot to mention her. There's a lot of young talent at NCC. We just didn't get to see much of it last year because they had a solid bunch of seniors ahead of them. I think NCC is going to have a very good year!!

talk among my dughter's friends is that several freshman didn't return along with a couple of upperclassman. could be good opportunity for the freshman and sophmores to see varsity time based on numbers which was unheard of in the past for most players. let's see how this goes when they head to the southern part of the county where we will be awaiting the challange.

They looked very good against St. Ursuline in a scrimmage on Friday. They played very well as a team. One stand out that looks like she has made a major jump from last year was sophomore Alexus Mayes. She was really impressive with her ability to play on the perimiter shoot the 3 and also has some very good moves on the post. I feel like she is going to be tough to handle this year if she keeps up what I saw Friday. I think this season looks very bright for New Cath.
