Default Local girls win AAU National Championship

Shining Stars (Pittman) took some of the most talented NKy girls from the Class of 2014 to Orlando this past week and they're bringing home some hardware! The Stars Blue team won the AAU Division II Championship, while the Black team took 5th place after falling to the Blue team in the Elite 8. Additionally, this talented group of ladies earlier took the Championship of the Silver Showcase and the final four of the Bronze Showcase, all at ESPN Wide World of Sports. In May the same girls won the Ky AAU Division I 1st and 2nd place awards at KBA.

The combined roster is a "who's who" of upcoming Junior talent from Northern Ky, (from NCC, NDA, SK, Cooper, Gallatin, etc. - EVEN Brossart! ), plus 2 players from Ohio.

    Congratulations, ladies!

I saw Matchinga's name on the roster. Is that the girl from Latin School? If it is, is she graduating this year or 2014? It may be interesting to see what happens with her on the college front if she is graduating this year at age 16.

Congrats to both teams! There is some outstanding talent on these two teams and I am very familiar with these Shining Stars teams. This is truly a well-run orgainization. Mr. Pittman and the rest of the coaching staff obtains the very best from these young ladies on the floor, and maybe most importantly, they communicate their expectations off the floor as well. It is the first AAU coaching staff that I've been involved with that realizes that these girls just want to become better players for their respective schools. It's just a class-act organization that really puts the girls first. Both teams had outstanding perfomances at the AAU Nationals that they should be proud of!
