Campbell County at the FNB Holiday Bash

The Lady Camels have finished the day at South Warren in the FNB Holiday Bash. They beat Warren Central in the afternoon game 87-- 28 and crushed Jenkins 111 -- 29. The will play Hopkinsville tomorrow at 5:00pm.

111-29 that is sad and lack of class in my opinion.

How is it lack of class because Campbell is really good. I'm just asking what a coach is supposed to do in that situation. I agree that it is a bad situation for both teams because it doesn't benefit either team to play a game like this however when the coach is playing his 2nd and 3rd string players for 90% of the game there isn't much else you can do.

I just don't understand people that think this stuff is ok.

If your team has the apparent lack of talent, why do you sign up for a tournament such as this? I really don't understand people that get upset about this. It's a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. As long as the parents and coaches use it as a learning opportunity for all involved, what's the issue? To me, when we got beat and beat bad, it made me step back and appreciate the talent we were up against, not feel bad about myself. Self-loathing these days really needs to be ended. Sometimes you're the fly, sometimes you're the flyswatter.

I have seen several of these discussions involving lopsided games. A few thoughts:
    1. Outside of must-play district/conference games, you sign up for these games or tournament, you know what you're getting into. Most tournament know what they are looking for and what type of team they get. Don't sign up for a top-notch tournament if you can't compete.
    2. I have no problem with a second or third team running their offense or just being bigger and scoring. Pressing is another issue. Use common sense, show some respect.
    3. I've been on the receiving end of some major beatings as a player and coach at all different levels and don't remember ever feeling embarrassed as long as the other team is just playing and not being disrespectful or jerks about it. As far as emotionally scared or anything like that, that is ridiculous.

Disapponted feathers are ruffled. Lady Camels are having the best year in school history, and every single girl on that team is respectful and classy. No one wants to embarass anyone, please let’s not have girls on the losing team be victims. Camels have earned it.

Every CCHS girl played significant minutes in this game. 11 girls scored points in the victory and the big 3 only scored between 23--20 points in the game. Jenkins won their game today against Warren Central, so their self esteem must not have damages to much in the loss last night.

CCHS is really good this year and they are fun to watch. That saying beating a team almost by 100 points is a little to much. There are ways to make that margin lower.

And I guess some people swat the fly and then, after it is dead, go step on it and squish it rather then just picking it up and throwing it away.

Did anyone who is commenting even go to the game? My guess is no.

I don't think anyone likes the score, but what do you do? It was 37-5 after the 1st quarter. I don't want a dominate team feeling sorry for me, and toying with me playing keep away if I'm on the losing end either. If Campbell County cut their scoring by 1/3, they still win by 45. If I'm on the losing team, I don't want to go into the locker room having lost by 45 and knowing they felt sorry for me. To me that's a bigger slap in the face than the score.

Every game is different and I have no idea what happened in this game but it is a factor that CC shot 67% from the field and hit 14 threes. If they shot 50% from the field and 33% from three (still very good), then they only score 86 and there isn't a thread about the game.

I love Campbell County and every girl on that team has earned the right to play hard. They happen to be very good.

But for the detractors on here who were obviously (1) not at the game and (2) do not have a very long memory, I feel inclined to point out that Jenkins is the same school that beat the same team in 2 straight games a couple of years ago by scores of 86-7 and 111-21, with their leading scorer tallying 41 and 52 points in those 2 games. I am not suggesting Jenkins "earned" a beatdown or is getting paid back by any means ... sometimes these lopsided things just happen. I know there were threads about those games a couple of years ago - back to back games against the same opponent where the girl chasing the all time scoring title scores almost 100 points looks pretty bad after all - but I would have hoped some of the Jenkins/Creech defenders then would stand up now and say "sometimes these things just happen and girls are really good and bad scores can't be avoided" ... because I am quite sure that was said a couple of years ago defending Jenkins...
