2015-16 14th Region Rankings Week 7 (1/17/16)
1.Breathitt County (15-4):
Breathitt County is on fire at the time, winning 4 straight (including the 14th Region All “A” Classic) and have won 9 of their last 10 games. Breathitt County will be home Saturday hosting Jackson City. Amy Brewer, Kacey Cox and Emily Noble keep leading the way for the Lady Cats, averaging 11 points a game.
2.Leslie County (11-5):
The Lady Eagles started the season off strong winning their first two games and 9 of their first 10 games on the season but things have turned in the wrong direction as the Lady Eagles are 2-4 in their last 6 games, with a loss coming to Jenkins in the 14th Region All “A” Classic. Leslie County will host OBI on Monday, travel to June Buchanan on Tuesday and Perry Central on Friday.
3.Knott County Central (12-6):
The Lady Pats seen their 5 game winning streak come to an end on Friday as they fell to Harlan County 73-66. Before the loss, Knott Central had things going back in the right direction winning 5 straight going 1-4 in their previous 5 games before the 5 game win streak. Knott Central will host Jenkins on Monday, Letcher Central on Friday and will play Ridgeview VA on Saturday at Pike Central.
The Lady Cavaliers ended their 3 game losing skid by picking up two big wins, defeating district foe, Letcher Central and then pulling a huge upset by knocking off Leslie County 70-61, who was #1 last week. Jenkins will travel to Knott Central on Monday, Cordia on Friday and will play Magoffin County at Pike Central on Saturday.
5.Perry County Central (6-7):
Since defeating Knott Central back on Dec. 19, the Lady Commodores went on a 4 game losing streak before defeating Hazard to end their skid. Perry Central will travel to Powell County on Wednesday and host district foe, Leslie County on Friday.
Hazard Lady Bulldogs have won 4 out of their last 6 games but one of those losses came to crosstown rival, Perry Central 75-61. Hazard will host Paintsville on Tuesday and Buckhorn on Saturday.
7.Powell County (9-6):
The Lady Pirates have won just 3 of their last 8 games but two of those wins have came against district opponents, Owsley County and Estill County. Powell County will host Wolfe County on Monday, Perry Central on Wednesday and travel to Owsley County on Friday.
8.Estill County (8-10):
After winning 4 straight, the Lady Engineers have hit a skid, losing their last 4 games including a close one to district rival, Powell County 45-41. Estill County will travel to Lee County on Friday. This same team that Estill County defeated on a game winning 3 at the buzzer just two weeks ago.
9.Owsley County (6-7):
Lady Owls ended their 3 game losing streak when they defeated Wolfe County on January 11th. The Lady Owls put up a 2 game win streak before falling to Hazard in the 14th Region All “A” Classic. Owsley County will host Buckhorn on Monday and Powell County on Friday.
10.Lee County (5-8):
Lee County is on a 3 game losing streak and has only won 1 out of their last 5 games heading into this week. Lee County will host Jackson City on Tuesday and will look to get revenge on Estill County on Friday and they will host Jackson County on Saturday.
11. Buckhorn (7-9):
Buckhorn has won 3 of their last 5 games. Lady Wildcats will travel to Owsley County on Monday and Hazard on Friday.
12.Wolfe County (5-7):
Wolfe County has dropped their last 2 games including a heart breaker to Lawrence County 42-41. Wolfe County will travel to Powell County on Monday, host Riverside Christian on Friday and travel to Elliott County on Saturday.
13.Jackson City (5-9):
Jackson City defeated Riverside Christian on Saturday to end their 5 game losing streak that included 2 losses to district opponents Wolfe County and Breathitt County.
14.June Buchanan (5-5):
Lady Crusaders are 3-2 in district play and own a win over Letcher County Central..
15.Letcher County Central (4-12):
Letcher Central woes continue as they’ve lost 3 straight and lost 7 of their last 8 games.
Cordia continues to struggle against teams. Highest scoring game for the Lady Lions was 42 coming in a loss to Knott Central.
17.Riverside Christian (0-14):
Riverside Christian boys got their first win on the season, now the girls are looking for win #1.
