Absolutely X wins in '13 with Glaser and the Charles Walker show. Walker would have averaged 180 yds per game and the Tigers would have controlled the ball for 35 minutes per game. Of all the teams in the state, Scott Co. should be the most thankful that Glaser was not at the helm in 2013

Chris Brown, Smart Football Editor, who has over 100,000 followers on twitter, just tweeted the ST.X job opening. Stating he has learned that it’s a national search for next head coach.

I don't think it's a shock at all that they would say that. Why wouldn't you say it's a national search for the coach?

But the key is will Perry let them hire someone from outside X-ville?

Today with Social Media and the internet it doesn’t take much to make something a national search.
Big time HS jobs have become highly sought after throughout the country.
What will make X a national coaching type job is if they pony the cash!

Okie1, no shortage of cash at Saint Xavier high school. In the past, they have loosened up on their lofty ideals to attract the right players to beat Trinity. It will happen again this time as well. I have seen the same thing in the past when Trinity started to dominate the football series.

It’s amazing how good a coach Glaser has become since he retired. I can remember people couldn’t wait for him to hang it up. Be careful what you ask for; you just might get it.

Roundsteak, you are so right. I remember those years in the 80’s and 90’s when the Saint Xavier fans were up in arms for the administration to fire coach Glaser. Then he won a couple of championships and the X fans put away their pitchforks and nooses for a long period. Coach Glaser deserved better than he got from the administration.

I know there were many St. Matthews people who were very sad when that occurred.

First, if you look back, I was always a supporter of Mike, as were many. We simply disagreed with his offense, but agreed he was coach for the right reasons.
Second, the 13 team was tailor-made for Mike. He would have won, and ridden Charles Walker all the way to the bank. Wolford upset the chemistry by trying to make it a passing team suddenly, and bringing in a transfer for QB, whose father was the QB coach. We also started "daddy-ball" which we had not done in the past.
Third, the ad for coach states the candidate "must have significant football coaching experience at the high school level or above." It requires a teaching certificate, or eligibility for one, as well as a working knowledge of the educational mission.
Reading between the lines, there is an acknowledgement that the no experience did not work out, and neither did the fact that Will was not on campus during the day.

There is something to be said for coaches being teachers and at the school all day. The only time non-teachers are with the players is at practice. Having coaches in the hallway on a daily basis has a positive effect on players. You can bet the next HC and staff at STX will be mostly teachers
