I had heard that Russell did'nt pass much, last week in the Russell/Newport game they ran mostly power football, but when they were down 27-20 with 3 minutes left in the game, they broke out their passing attack and went down and scored and tied the game, I think the QB was 5-for-5 on that drive.

There has been two posts on this thread talking about O'boro Cath. should worry about Desales, I haven't seen anyone from Catholic talking on this thread about a game after friday night. However, I've seen several Corbin fans talking about how good Desales is this year, maybe Corbin thinks if Desales wins the state that's like them comming in second ?????????

I feel as if both teams are very good ball teams. I do wonder if Russell has some defence issues! They have given up a lot of points in some of their games! This will be a great game! I know in my heart that Russell will have a hard time with Belfry moving the ball down the field. I don't know enough about Russell to say what our D will do with them! I think a lot of people feel as if we are more like Russell of last year (one back team like Gross). This Belfry team has three backs with over 1,000 yards each. This team is very close to the Belfry team of last year in that regard. I feel that Russell may be more like Belfry now with three backs that are very good! I just cannot wait any longer, we need to play this tomorrow!

Alot of the points scored on Russell in a lot of the games were on 2nd team.

And through the air, which I don't expect Belfry to be doing a lot of.

This is cut and pasted from the Russell site. This will give everyone some idea of where all the yardage comes from.

Sorry that it's hard to read. I cut and pasted it and it would not let me space everything out as it should have been.

Here is a breakdown by quarter. In games that have been decided early we start subbing around the half to mid third.

    SCORE BY QUARTERS 1st 2nd 3rd 4th OT Total
    -------------------- --- --- --- --- --- ---
    RUSSELL............. 117 160 137 97 7 - 518
    Opponents........... 27 59 24 127 6 - 243

It has also been said that Russell played a better schedule! I am thinking this might be even!

The teams Russell played are 78-64!
The teams Belfry played are 76-73!

I think Russell did play a tougher schedule than Belfry. Region 4 was way down this year IMO.

The factor for this year is compared to last years Belfry game. Our starters did not play an entire game last year until they played Belfry. They were not use to playing all game. This year it has been a great learning experience for our boys. They have had to play longer in the games. Yes I do feel that we have played a tougher schedule this year. our kids have had to pull from behind in the Newport game. They did what they needed to do. Yes it was a close game and Newport was a GOOD team.
Other teams have scored on us late in the game. But we have scored almost 100 poionts in the 4th quarter. Just building for next year.

Russell still favored at home in our stadium.
Not talking smack or dreaming. I think we will win.
