Just got news, Trinity’s Coach Coverdale is leaving for Cincinnati St.X, to be their OC.

Is he from that area? Seems like lateral move unless getting paid more.

That's good news for the rest of 6A in Kentucky!

    Congrats Coach Coverdale.

He apparently has family in the area. Not sure about the financial arrangement.

I really have no idea, but I think that would be a pretty interesting list to compare for each school...D1 FBS college head coaches assistants from St. Xavier (OH), Trinity, St. Xavier, Male, Colerain (OH), Moeller (OH), and Elder (OH).

I have to wonder if we don't see Coach Jackson head back to Trinity as an assistant after stepping down as skipper at Seneca...especially in light of Coach Coverdale leaving Trinity. Not sure if Jackson is an offensive or defensive guy though.

It’s my understanding that as of now, there are no plans to hire a new OC. Beatty is going to take over those duties.

Was Beatty previously in any specific roles besides head coach?

Beatty's background is more oriented to offense than defense. Coverdale left Trinity maybe 8-10 years ago to be the head coach at Castle HS in Indiana. His stint lasted maybe 3 years (not completely successful). During that period Beatty may have served as OC as well as HC----but I certainly do not know for sure.

Beatty has a Run and Shoot background. I’m not saying that’s what Trinity will run but just that his background on offense is solid.

I put very little stock in coordinator positions at the high school level, as I don’t believe they are truly running the show most of the time. High school head coaches don’t get fired because their coordinators aren’t doing a good job.

Now, that’s not to say a coordinator can’t be a valuable asset to a coaching staff, because they absolutely are. I just don’t think there are many coordinators at this level that have the control some think they do.

He has a great mind for football and the program will miss him.

As an alum of the school who saw he also had a great mind for teaching and classroom instruction, he'll be a real loss in the hallways.

As someone who lives in Cincinnati these days, I'm excited to see what he can cook up at St. X.

That’s probably true in a number of places. Coverdale had a very large amount of control.

Good luck to Coach Coverdale and thanks for many, many exciting Friday nights. Coach C is a good man. A loss for us and a big gain for Cincy X.
