Trinity is not allowed to recruit either....and you've got it backwards...players pay to go to Trinity...it's called tuition!

Do not try to deflect from the wrong that was done by your team by making unfounded, unsupported claims. If you have information about any wrong-doing by any school...report it!

Trinity takes pride (as well as my school) in discipline. That is why your team's actions have caused such an outrage among the Rock and Tiger faithful. It is our belief that discipline makes our teams great not to mention that it is the mark of a true man! Trinity even has the word "discipline" on their helmets.

    ^I noticed.

Off topic, but im looking for a word....financial aid. That didn't cause us to lose though, it was our own in game mistakes. Enough said.

HC, There's a lot of talk about "financial aid" around here but I be surprised (shocked) if there was anybody at Trinity that had anything close to all of their tuition paid. It's typically a lot "wider than it is deep" and you'll find a large percentage of the students will get some small amount but few if any get more than half their tuition paid. That would still put Trinity tuition in the thousands of $$$ per year.

Anyone from Trinity (or the KHSAA) is free to correct me if I'm wrong.

None get more than half. Half is the max someone can get. Over 40% of Trinity's student body gets some form of financial assistance. The majority of that get less than half.

Trinity has around 1400 students, 600 would equal a little over 40%.

Around $900,000 was raised from alumni/parent/friends of the school giving and was given out last year. Divide $900,000 by 600 students and you get an average of $1500 in aid given out to students who receive aid.

$900,000 sounds like a large sum of money but the company in Ohio who determines which students get aid and how much aid they receive, said Trinity fell short of meeting the entire financial need of all those who applied.

    From my observations :argue: :argue:

    1) Sam Simpson can be controversial but is a good person.
    2) HC lost the game because they (a) could not hang on to the ball and (b) they could not stop Trinity.
    3) IF HC did do the T stomp, I am sure it was a heat of the moment thing that did backfire, but one incident does not define a mans character, or career. I am sure that EVERY coach has said or done something in their past that after the heat of battle they regret.
    4) Trinity fans do have the right to voice their displeasure with the incident, that's why a board like this exists.
    5) HCvs. X or T vs. X would bothe be great games.
    6) good luck to both T and X

I agree with HC50. He makes a good point. Trinity won. What more do they want? There's no need to put Henry Clay's players down. They've had a good season. So has Trinity. Good luck against St X!

I could agree with everything you say BUT when Coach Simpson called the Trinity program trash that crossed the line. The stomp was for the most part a bunch of high school kids getting carried away with the emotion of the situation and can be forgiven but a coach is an adult and as such is supposed to be above that sort of thing.

I'm not defending Sam Simpson, by any means ... but aren't some people trying to make more of this "T-stomping" stuff than is warranted? Bottom line ... I suspect that, given the score and the way the game went, Trinity won because they blocked, tackled and ran and threw the ball better and played more sound football than Henry Clay did.

It's always an advantage, whether you choose to admit it or not.

As I said, I was judging it based on the game thread and reports I heard about how the game went ... and some of my own observations about both programs developed over the years.

They do not have to recruit. The tradition and excellence of the football programs at Trinity and St. X sell themselves. So while the recruiting accusations may be off base, it is safe to say that plenty of young men "pay their way" to go there for the specific purpose of playing football. Just because it is legal does not mean that everyone has to agree that it is fair. If kids in the city of Lexington or any city around the state for that matter, could ignore districting and just flock to one school, perhaps that school could be built into a perennial power as well. It seems as if a lot of people around the state are growing tired of one of these two schools always showing up in the 4A title game, so now that both teams are in it, it just makes it that much more painful to watch. A lot of coaches and players feel as if they are at an unfair disadvantage, and there is some merit to that argument.

I think both of these teams are at fault here. Henry Clay stomped on the T. Sure, it wasn't nice, but it's football and they're teenagers. Trinity blew something small way out of proportion. They won, how can they complain? Plus, not everything said here about henry clay is true. Props to Trinity for winning and going to the finals, but quit putting henry clay down! I don't remember anyone calling anyone trash. I have a lot of respect for Coach Simpson and he would never do that. Most of the team is good kids. If there was any trash talking it would only be a few people. I wish henry clay would be given the respect they deserve after a great season!

Side note...there wasn't any trash talking in the game either.
