St. Xavier Tigers Football Notebook
Male 30 St. X 13
The much anticipated match up between St. X and Male was not what many in the Tiger circle show coming. After beating rival Trinity the week before, St. X was coming into the game with a lot of motivation. Male, considered by many to be the top team in the state, showed just how good they are with their performance in sloppy condidtions.
The first half was one to forget about for the Tigers as the offense had a difficult time getting into any type of rythem, and Male offense did a good job using their team speed to keep the Tiger offense off balance.
The second half saw St. X finally get on the the board with a 1 yard QB sneak by Noah Houk to cut Male's lead to 24-7. Male first series on offense saw them drive into Tiger terrioty and had to settle for a field goal. The field goal attempt was blocked by senior Davey Sermersheim, but the Tigers failed to capatilize on the opportunity. St. X scored their final touchdown on a 5 yard run by senior running back Taijon Smith.
Here is what we learned, Male is pretty good and St. X is still working to be more consistent.
Manual (6-1), Last Week: Trinity 14 Manual 3
October 18, 2013: St. X 24 Manual 23
An interesting game for both teams. Both teams have one loss and a second loss more than likely would send the team traveling during the playoffs. While St. X's offense is a bit inconsistent, does Manual have enough fire power without star running back Nero? How will St. X respond to the lose to Male? Head on over to the prediction threah and express your thoughts about the upcoming game!
