    Spacing - Class 3A Rankings

I think we can all agree that Boyle County, Belfry, Lexington Catholic, and Louisville Central are the top four teams in Class 3A right now. There are a few others just outside (Tilghman, Caldwell County, Elizabethtown, Russell, etc.).

What is the distance between each of the top five teams? To explain, is the gap between Boyle and Belfry larger or smaller than the gap between Belfry and Lexington Catholic? Feel free to elaborate within the thread!

I'm of the belief that Caldwell County and Elzabethtown may be underrated and slept on. As a Boyle County fan they both scare me. We have plenty of Caldwell County folks on here so keeping tabs on them isn't hard. They are off to an impressive start for sure. Elizabethtown is hard to know how good they are. This week will tell us something about them.

You would make a hell of a coach PP, or a politician.

I could have been a damn good politician. Me and Obama could have done some things.

I do think Boyle County and Belfry are at the top of the heap. How far ahead remains to be seen and I am hesitant to try and guess at that gap. I truly think and feel that Caldwell County may be better than is being said on here. They could be #3 for all we know.

And we all know Central will be a problem in November.

I personally might rank the top 10 a little differently but for this thread, I'll use the current BGP rankings as a guide. I really don't feel like we have seen enough Friday night lights to get this right, but this will be fun to take a stab at it.

    Boyle County
    Belfry

    Lexington Catholic

    Central

    Caldwell County

    Paducah Tilghman

    Corbin

    Elizabethtown
    Russell

    Bell County

I think Boyle is clearly the top dog, but Belfry is not far behind. Belfry is without a couple of starters right now due to suspension, but that will be short lived. At full strength, Belfry makes this gap fairly small.

Then there is a little larger gap to LexCath, and then a similar gap on to Central.

I think those 4 teams are the cream of the crop and I would love to see a series of games between the 4 of them. After them, the next gap is a little wider where you have Caldwell and Tilghman and then a wide gap to the interchangeable Corbin, Etown and Russell.

At this point, Bell Co would be a good distance behind those 3.

This will be a great thread to update weekly as the season progresses.

    Boyle County
    Belfry

    Lexington Catholic
    Louisville Central

    Caldwell County

This is how I would rank the Top 5 for now. Boyle County and Belfry are close. It's hard to tell though.

What is with the gap with Boyle & Lexington Catholic? Last time they hooked up LC was on top. I haven't seen Bouye play yet but I think LC belongs right up there with the 1st wave.

The gap is that Boyle County has played teams they were expected to beat and they have beaten them. LexCath has played teams they were expected to beat and lost to two of them. Thus the gap. Plus, LexCath is replacing a two year starter at QB and having a tough time doing so at the moment. Boyle County returned their two year starter at QB who is quietly preparing his Mr. Football/All BGP Team resume.

PP92 I was just wondering. I'll have to agree with your statement on Robbins. Was lucky enough to see a clip of a play he made Friday vs. Danville and all I could think was WOW!!!!

I will say this about LexCath. They traditionally get better every week and do so at an astronomical pace. This Boyle County team is also getting better every week. The Boyle County/LexCath game cannot get here fast enough.

I was at that game and I got text messages from two of my sons who were there and we were all in amazement at that play. It was incredible to watch it live. Josey gave us a great bonding moment.
