I am surprised they didnt ask Highlands or Beechwood for their fields. Or maybe they did. I guess Newport IS NCC's home field, so perhaps that is what they prefer. Regardless, Go Breds!

It's been a while since that field has been played on or taken in a substantial amt. of water. Surely it's not in that bad of shape now? Does anyone have a picture of the field in it's present condition, or a picture of the field at all?

Newport has played on it the last three playoff games because technically it is their field, ncc just shares it with them.

I drove by this field the other day after the first round of the playoffs and this field looked terrible. I guess it is their choice but I think I would have chosen a nicer facility. Especially since they can't fit a big crowd in there.

Somerset will need to have an answer for Sam Diehl in order to pull the upset. Good luck to the Breds.

    Dear Mr. Wilson Sears,

I am so glad that your team won but I think I'll pull for NCC

    Thanks,

Do we really need to bring this game into the public/private debate?

Can't wait to hear the score of this one. I hope the game is closer than most on here are predicting. I'll go with the so called underdogs:

    Somerset - 28
    Newport CC - 26

From my standpoint, I don't think the public/private debate matters. Just less than 2/3 of the teams in the semi-finals are public teams. Public or private, both of these teams are very good. Wilson Sears doesn't represent the views of everyone in Somerset. Maybe the majority, maybe not...but definitely not everyone. Private schools get talented through recruiting, but it takes heart, soul, and will to win championships, and I'm a firm believer that those things sometimes can out-do talent.

I think NCC needs to find some property in Newport and build themselves a nice facility. Sharing a field and having to go to different fields to play is ridiculous. Some of you NewCath faithfuls and alumni who have some money need to look into this. If NCC is going to be in the playoffs every year they deserve a facility.

Nobody's building anything in the diocese by decree until the diocese reaches a final settlement on the lawsuit.
