Wow. You tried to lead me down the right track and I refused.

One of those can't see the forest for the trees moments. We have all had them. A mod should close the thread before we have to go through it anymore

Whew, that was ten minutes of my life I'll never get back. I should have just stuck with pride and let it go. Thanks VoR.

If Boone would beat Ryle the only way Boone would then make the playoffs is if Cooper should upend Conner.

However, if Boone would lose this game AND Cooper beats Conner they would end up in a 3-way tie and win the 4th spot via the tiebreaker.

So what's in it for Boone to win this game?
It's likely a moot point since the chances of a Boone upset of Ryle are highly unlikely this year.

Yes, that was kind of like the sports riddle of the day, wasn't it? It took a little thinking to get your mind around it.

All the while I was thinking to myself that if a team has to lose to make the playoffs then Houston our system has a problem.

If I were Boone's coach, I would pack up the entire school on buses and head on out to Hebron to root on Cooper. They should bring the players with them and forfeit the Ryle game which is meaningless to them. But, that's just me.

This sounds like the debate over whether team A, tied with a minute to go and Team B on team A's 1-yard line, should let Team B walk into the end zone. Many will say that's the only chance Team A has - to get the ball back and score.

But it does kinda go against the grain.

The bigger question is, what difference does it make for Cooper to win? 1st 6A win would be a biggy. Who do they want to go to the playoffs more, Boone or Conner?

I am sure Cooper will go all out to get their first district win and get the monkey off their back. I couldn't imagine they would really care all that much whether Boone or Conner goes to the playoffs.

Sure why not. I think Boone went into that mode in the second half against SK.

I agree they looked nothing like they did in the first! Did they not know if they win that game they control their own destiny for the playoffs!
