Or in fairness that it was handled internally and the school doesn't want to air their dirty laundry because the action violates the spirit of good sportsmanship found in by law 11.

IDK Guru, in isolation one might be able to dismiss such an incident as bad judgment. But this is not the only issue that has met with some controversy over in Ft. Mitchell this off season. I sense desperation. I sense players are used to talk to other players in other programs and , if true, this is not in the spirit of Bylaw 6.

From a basketball point of view. Scrimmages between just 2 teams is off limits. We had a coach last year that went to one and nobody could believe it.
If it a scrimmage jamboree or multiple scrimmages then that is fine because a lot of those are fundraisers.

I can remember in the 70s and even through the mid-80s it was somewhat of a game to see if you could keep your scrimmage a secret but find out when your opponent was scrimmaging and where. Seems sort of silly now, but back then it was a big deal for some coaches and sort of fun. One summer afternoon I road up in the car to Owenton with my dad(John Buchanan- Mercer County) and Coach French to find out when and where Owen County was scrimmaging. It was when the Cochran brothers were playing. I will say we got the info but leave out the rest of the details.
I also enjoyed Coach French and Coach Johnson from Harrodsburg trying to hide that info. We were scrimmaging at Frankfort one morning when Raymond Webb was their coach and Coach Johnson surprisingly showed up at our scrimmage. Harrodsburg was rivals with both Mercer and Frankfort so it was an interesting morning.
A couple times we left town from school a different way because supposedly a couple Harrodsburg coaches were sitting out near 127 waiting to follow our bus.
As far as scouting your opponent for a scrimmage by watching them practice, if that happened back then I never heard about it. As most coaches have said already, it is common practice to call your scrimmage opponent and give each other information so you can prepare your kids a little bit better. Usually the team you scrimmage, the coaching staffs have a pretty good relationship. We scrimmage Ashland. That scrimmage is always a big challenge for us. Coach Hart is a very good friend and has also done a great job with the Tomcats.
This is a great time of year. Those KIDS that are going to take the field on Friday nights to play the GAME- enjoy it and make the most of it!
For all of us adults- notice the all caps on KIDS & GAME. This time is for them!

It's 2012 and Coach French will change a scrimmage date and time at the very last second if the scrimmage info leaks out.
I'm surprised this scrimmage wasn't moved when the info about it came out. He's done it before while at Boyle.
He hasn't changed a bit.

Coach French said he had to quit scrimmaging Frankfort because Coach (Chuck) Smith couldn't stop laughing watching Coach Webb carry on.
Coach Webb brought one of his players into our huddle after one play. We had no idea what he was doing. He puts his arm around our player's neck, speaking to his player, and pointing to the jersey number of our player. He says, " you see that # 74? He's the one that knocked you on your (tail) while you were standing up looking for the ice cream truck! "
After that, I'm not sure how much coaching we got done.
