This does not surprise me. The current soph’s as Freshman scheduled super tough last year. So those that played today were probably ready. The current Freshman at Ryle are big and athletic. I think the future is bright at Ryle. Coach Engler was toughted out of Lex Cath as a QB guru, so he needs to start guru’ing. If he does, I like what the future holds. If he doesn’t start guru’ing, then the will be a continual #2/#3 maybe even #4 NKY team as Cov Cath continues to be strong, SK is SK and Highlands rebuilds. Can’t leave out Campbell county either. I really think Coach E could just concentrate on QBs and let his coaches be coaches.

#70 from Ryle cut through Cov Cath's offensive line like a hot knife through butter! Where was this kid Friday night? When the refs stopped letting CC hold this kid, the offense was forced to adjust and began to double and triple team him. It played beautifully in the hands of the Ryle defense. CC's offensive line didn't know what hit'em and it created opportunities for everyone else. Well done...

Ryle scored in the first quarter on pass from Stanken to Grigson. Ball was fumbled into the endzone and recovered by Planck.

CovCath scored in the 3rd, but failed on the the 2pt conversion attempt.

A Cuaisk late 4th quarter 1 yard td run but the game away for the Raiders in the 13-6 Ryle win.

Having watched every game Ryle has played with Coach Engler as head coach, I have serious questions about his qualifications as a quarter back guru. Having a player like Tanner Morgan with his work ethic and natural abilities definitely helps any program, but coach Engler has been at Ryle for five years now. The quarterback position has not been a strength and could be considered Ryles biggest weakness since Tanner left. Last years quarterback played solely at wide receiver and never took snaps at quarterback until the starting quarterback was replaced last year during the first game. I don't recall the JV quarterbacks being really successful during coach Engler's tenure either. I hope this years squad and particularly the quarterback the utmost success but I really think much of the success the program has had in the last three years is due more to the transcendent nature of skilled players on the offensive side of the ball like Tanner Morgan and Jake Chisholm rather then a rapid development of skill players under coach Engler. I think the offensive line coach has done a great job getting the best out his players and the defensive coaches have done a good job getting players to buy into their system, I am just not sold on Coach Engler's ability to develop the position he was suppose to be a so called guru at IMO. I hope I am wrong......

Is Engler the QB coach and OC and head coach? I've always felt like the QB coach was a pretty involved job for as few players as they're working with day to day in practice. I don't know if Coach Engler is covering all three of those duties, but if so, I would think maybe he needs to lighten his workload.

Couldn’t agree more. That’s why I mentioned he needed to start guru’ing as he has not done up to this point. You are right, the skills and Offensive Line has been solid. There have been 6 D1 lineman in the past 6 years and the current freshman appear to be big too. Tanner and Chiz are freak players who can make bad coaches look good and bad players look better. You are spot on.

CovCath's only score came from an interception from the 1 yard line. This was a very good game by Ryle's JV defense.
