Michale Horn, I personally have enjoyed watching your career! I' m very sorry! I also want you to know that your team would NOT be playing for the STATE TITLE without your efforts on and off the field. I appreciate your abilities on the field, and I respect the character that you represent off the field. You are a tremendous young man! A leader by example, and a great role model for the younger kids who look up to the guys on the team.

Belfry was a false start from taking the lead. Russell played well, but IMO, and yes I was there, Maglone almost lost it for them. Why the vanilla in the second half by Russell?

Anyway, to the Belfry seniors. Thank you. I enjoyed every moment of it! You showed more heart than I expected tonight and I believed in you all along.

To the underclassmen, remember the feeling of defeat tonight. No team wins it all every year! Take a week off, then get your BUTTS in the complex and lift and breath getting better this offseason! The Pirates have a lot of experience and talent returning next season and there is no reason why we shouldn't be playing same week at CAM next season. How bad do you boys want it? How many Freshman and Sophmores read this sight? If your reading it right now, NOW is the time. Work harder than anyone else, get bigger, get stronger, get faster, and reclaim your crown next year boys!

Congrats to Rusell... Keep the trophy on the eastern side of the state.

Isnt it amazing of how momentum changes the game. One big play for Belfry and it turned everything around. I am upset we lost and feel we was a mistake away here and there from being back in Louisville.
But Russell won it and played hard adn I really do wish them teh best next week.

Coach McGlone is one of the best coaches in the state, and he didn't come close to losing it for Russell. It wasn't a case of Russell being vanilla in the 2nd half, but a case of Belfry making some adjustments to their defense, and taking some things away from Russell. Russell also had some bad field position for a lot of the 2nd half, and kind of forced Russell to keep it on the ground more instead of going to the air.

Thats the kind of ball game you should have in the semi's
Good job Russel on the win against a allready very confident defending state champion.
Very Nice season Belfry, anytime you make it this far you have nothing to be ashamed of.

The false start was a good call by the referee. The guy moved forward slightly before the snap of the ball.
FBALL you are a little harsh on Tommy Brown. The kid made one bad decision on an INT and was the victim of an outstanding play by Maynard at the goal line. Obviously he should have wrapped up the ball but those things do happen at times.
Brown was just as instrumental in the Devils getting to Louisville as anyone on this team. Oh how we forget the 80 yard drive he engineered at Newport just a week ago.

Got a call from my son last night and he said it was a broken small bone between the elbow and the wrist. I don't know for sure just relating what he said.

I also thought it was great to see Potter suited up and walking on the field. Sad to lose him for the year. But glad to see him walking.

I think it is pretty obvious that you do. It seems as if you have been waiting for this opportunity to take yet another shot at Coach Haywood. There haven't been very many chances to grind that axe the last couple of years, but tonight the handshaking wasn't even finished and you are bashing the coaches. As I said before, right on cue. You are wrong about the call, you are wrong to take that shot if you weren't even there and you are most definitely wrong about Coach Haywood. All my opinion, of course.

    BUT

You have every right to think what you want and to post it on here. It may not be popular, and you may have to have some backbone to stand up and defend your thoughts, but you have the right to post them and I for one hope you continue to do so.

Another thing that could have killed Russell was the fumble by Brown on the 1 yard line after a huge run.
If you think about it, it could have been 35 - 0 at the half instead of 20 - 0, and the game would have been pretty much out of reach for Belfry. Congrats to Russell on the win and lets hope they can finish it up at Papa John's Stadium!!
Way to go Red Devils. Awesome display. Total domination 1st half. Should have been in the field house 35 - 0 at half time against State Champs.
I agree with gopack21. Last week it about bit us in the butt for going for 2. Understand the reasoning but wrong time of the game tonight. You have a kicker hitting upper 90%, give him his due and get the sure thing. Goal and 6 inches and you have a right handed QB roll out to the left on a pass play, when your running game is what got you there and was getting 4+ yrds a carry. Linebackers were pulling back almost every down. QB off #62 Gullett right side maybe.
??????? PASS PLAY ??????? enough said.
Belfry, way to rebuild. Good job, good heart by your team. Just not this year. Many games of this nature in the future. Congrates to the Russell Defense. Way to dig deep and get that Devil Pride. Good job Russell coaches. Hope Horn recovers well. Congrates to coach McGlone. Long time waiting and well deserving.
Good to see #22 Potter in pads for the coin toss. Russell has improved every game this year and this team has come along way and has jelled together like a team should. Quality leadership on the field and someone always steps up and makes that special play. Good call for Coach Morris on that interception of having Casey help cover. Lewis had #30 (very good player) covered but the pass was cut off. Lets pack up and head to PAPA JOHN"S.
KEEP THE TRAIN ROLLING FOR A STATE TITLE.

I wasn't trying to be harsh. Brown has played great all year and is a HUGE reason Russell is where they are. But, he relaxed a little before he reached the goal line on the long run that resulted in a fumble on the tremendous effort by Maynard. And I am sure he will tell you that he should have thrown the ball away instead of taking the sack to end the first half.

I don't know if many people know this or if it has been mentioned on here, but Matt Maynard was playing with a groin injury that he received in the Sheldon Clark game. He is an amazing player and his speed is outstanding to watch.

    Just think about this ...
If Belfry played ball all game like they did in second half this would have been Belfry's game by 2
