Pikeville probably does beat Ashland... Ashland now is much better than Ashland at the beginning of the season...

I agree that Ashland is better as most teams are. I disagree that Pikeville beats them. Pikeville started the season ranked number 1 because of what they did last year.

For those who are interested and may not have seen it, a big part of this week's 1A Notebook talks about this game. Here is a link:

As beautiful as it is right now in Raceland, it's hard to believe the rain and cold is getting ready to set in. I'll be finishing the painting of the midfield R after work today.

I sure hope not. I think former Governor Paul Patton was scheduled to be in Ashland for some type of event, not sure what it was or when it is.

That's a good question, even though Ashland has progressed a lot throughout the season, so has Raceland. Pikeville on the other hand has regressed, in my opinion. They just simply were not as good as we all thought they were at the start of the season. Even though I'm an Ashland fan, I couldn't see Pikeville beating Ashland at this point in the season and given that Ashland within a score of Raceland, I doubt that Pikeville would have beat Ashland in week 1 either.

After looking more and more into this game throughout the week, I think the Ram's upset Painstville by a score or two.

I believe I'm missing something here with the "Governor," anyone care to fill me in?

Bevin was at a Paintsville practice last week. He was in town for a new program to help those that have been displaced from work primarily in the mining industry. Great initiative in my book. One of Bevin's top aides is 2002 Paintsville graduate Nathan Haney. Nate was an outstanding golfer, played basketball and was Student Body President during his high school years. Just being around him during my time there and talking with him you knew he was destined for great things in the political arena.
