4th and 2 from own 11 -(trailng by 5,2nd qtr) go for it????

I won't call it "dumb" or "stupid" - but it sure wasn't the smartest call I've ever seen! True - it did work, but had it not, it would still be the topic of conversation next thanksgiving!

Kudo's to both teams - this game lived up to all of the hype. 110% effort on both sides of the ball all night. Ft. Campbell had an amazing amount of talent and I beleive that had they kept the ball on the ground the entire night - the outcome would have been different.
To O.C. - could have easily thrown in towel mid 3rd qtr when down 25-14. But the "D" stepped it up - Woody regained his compusure, and the fatigue factor kicked in. Truly a valiant effort by every O.C. player!
O.C. fans were certainly loud - but as Aces noted - they tend to generate a ton of noise when on offense???????
Good Luck against L.D. this Friday!

It was BRILLIANT. That is what Champions are made of...

Also, it was a no brainer based on the loafing that FC was doing around the line of Scrimmage at the time... They all thought punt...even I did as well as the rest of you.

Great Call! My favorite is critics that like to talk about a call being crazy and stupid because they would not do it. It takes balls and that what wins big games.

The more I have been thinking about it the more I agree with it. It was something that wasn't expected by the D, they just thought Woody was out there trying to draw them offsides.

Coaches also did excellent game planning for this.

With all due respect, I don't think kudos are in order for OCath's 4th and 2 call that deep in Aces territory that early and behind by that little.

The call "working" is the only thing that keeps a call like that from being labelled a "bone-headed brain-dead foolish call" by EVERYone...

But IMO, the positive outcome doesn't make the call any smarter. The coach plain and simple took a dumb chance that happened to come out roses (unless the situation has been described inaccurately).

So what's the correct situation ?? Did OCath catch Ft. Campbell with their drawers down in the process of changing personnel or what ?? This is the first mention of this kind of thing....

Catholic did not catch them changing personnel. What you have to understand is that Catholic always fakes a hard count on 4th down and tries to draw a team off sides. Then they call timeout and punt, this time they just saw that FC was a little laid back waiting for Catholic to give the ball back to them. They were totally not expecting this and got burned for it. That is what happened.

No Oneijoe, FC was simply loafing and not paying attention. So your comment about it being bone-headed comes from a guy that probably can not make in game decsions when given good opportunities. OC gained over 5 yards on a play they shouldn't have run but they got because the coach was smart enough to have his head in the game and immediately seize an oppotunity that in hindsite was no risk at all. Its only risky to the Oneijoes of the world who cannot think outside the box.

    :flame:
    back at you smart guy
