FCPS is a different animal. They don't allow volunteer assistant coaches, head coaches are expected to teach as well, the district provides little money for the program other than the head coach stipend and helmet reconditioning.

FCPS mandates you play all schools in the district, so you have little flexibility to bring in teams that you can beat on your schedule.

Plus, that's a tough district. You aren't guaranteed to make the playoffs (the only 6A district like that) and getting past your 3rd round game w/ Scott County is always going to be tough.

Unfortunately, Mullins did not put in the work and provide the leadership required to run a 6A program. It would not be appropriate to get into all the details but it was time to part ways.

They lost a 3 year starting QB, OL and two RB's who started at different times to Douglass this year.

I am hearing there is a solid young coach who has ties to Dunbar and is part of championship coach Paul Rains coaching tree putting in. He is getting a lot of support. I’ll post more if I receive any more information.

I’m willing to bet that he is a head coach again sooner than some think @TeddyRoosevelt

I would agree with you, even if I don't think he should be.

Well one reason is they know football. Another is they win. Both go along way.
