Mark "Bo" Pelini was born 6 weeks premature. He designed a blitz to help him escape from his mother's uterus early.

If Newport's Defense continues to play the run like they have I like our chances. With our weapons on offense back and healthy, I think they will play better this week but it sounds like they are gonna have to against a strong East Carter Defense.

The big difference this year compared to last year with East is they are healthier than they have been actually in 5 weeks or so also this bunch of seniors are a mentally tough bunch , last year they went to Newport without 4 or 5 starters plus we had some what you might call certain guys going through the motions by the end of the year, they may get ran off the field thi week but don't think they won't play for 4 Qtrs. Defensively they will flat put the wood to you and their LB's are a mean bunch with all with good size and speed , d backs areas fast as anybody and d line not huge but very quick and strong. The offense is really multi faceted if you want to stop the middle they have great speed outside along with IMO one of the best receivers in the area along with Pfau give him a step and it's over, the sophomore QB is a threat both running and passing. The big difference is this bunch is coming to win and will give the ultimate effort. I've made them sound unbeatable which is obviously not true but they will not be blown out, they were beaten by Russell 27 to 7 and that was with out some major contributors who just came back against Lloyd which gives them some depth. I have no idea how good Newport is justlooking at scores from the board and word on the board, so I reckon we will see come Fri, would love to see a Russell - East final which I believe Russell will do their part hopefully we can save Russell the trip to Newport, look for the Raiders to bring plenty of fans as the support has really been great this year.

Well Newport should do well if they have the same refs from the Friday night game against Fleming Co.

Newport played a great game last Friday night and I'm looking forward to another great one this week.

    East Carter fans,

Last year Newport really put it on the Raiders in the first round last year. But this year the team seems much improved. Can you guys tell me what the difference in last years team compared to this years? Im just trying to figure out how they improved that much from last year.
East had 4 or 5 starters go down the previous couple of weeks, including the starting QB, who was also the 1st team All-State punter. The starting QB for the Newport game was a starting CB who had not played QB since middle school. The Raiders hobbled into Newport just trying to survive.

I noticed a post earlier with East Carters roster. If possible does anyone have access to a Newport roster? I'd like to be familiar with the players before the game on Friday.

Official assignments are located on the KHSAA website. They are scattered about throughout the state.

Good luck to the East Carter Raiders this Friday night.

This may be one of the better games this Friday. I think it may be a toss up. I can't pick this one but would like to see East win.

How deep has East Carter been in the play offs in prior years?

A beautiful night, a slight chill in the air, and a nice dry field. It's just what Newport's big play offense needs for a 35-28 victory and a rematch with Mercer Co.

If I'm Newport, this game scares the heck out of me because of East Carter's speed. Newport playing at home and EC's lack of playoff experience make Newport a 34-25 winner, but an East Carter win here would not surprise me at all.
