The 2014 regular season came to an end this past Friday night. Some teams advance to the playoffs while other teams season came to an end.
- Estill County 63, McCreary Central 19
Engineers would host the McCreary Central on senior night on Hoover Niece Field in Estill County. The Engineers defeated the Raiders 49-12 last season in Stearns, Estill County would be looking to repeat the victory while the Raiders would be looking to end their 26-game skid.
This would be a lopsided affair as Estill County would roll to a 63-19 victory. Estill County would lead 37-0 after 1 then 57-6 at halftime.
Estill County took less than 10 offensive plays in the first five minutes of the game to put up 21 points on the scoreboard.
Estill County improves to 8-2 and will host the Mason County Royals next Friday in the first round of the Class 3A KHSAA playoffs.
McCreary Central ends the season at 0-10 (27 game skid)
- Hazard 42, Sheldon Clark 13
The Bulldogs made the trip up to Inez KY to take on the Sheldon Clark Cardinals.
This would be another lopsided affair as the Bulldogs would roll to a 42-13 victory. Hazard would be the first to get on the scoreboard and they wouldn't look back as they put up 21 in the first quarter and 14 in the second on their way to the 42-13 win.
Hazard improves to 8-2 and will host Lynn Camp in the first round of the Class 1A KHSAA playoffs.
Sheldon Clark falls to 1-9 and will travel to Magoffin County in the first round of the Class 3A KHSAA playoffs.
- Johnson Central 35, Belfry 0
The Belfry Pirates made the trip to Paintsville to take on Johnson Central in WYMT's game of the week and what a lot of people thought would be a great game.
A great game that most people thought it would be was the exact opposite as Johnson Central shut out Belfry on their way to a 35-0 victory over the Pirates to end the season at 10-0.
Bryce Workman done just about all the work for the Golden Eagles as he carried the ball 9 times for 144 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.
Johnson Central improves to 10-0 and will host Harrison County in the first round of the Class 4A KHSAA playoffs.
Belfry falls to 8-2 and will host Jackson County in the first round of the Class 3A KHSAA playoffs.
- Pikeville 35, Russell 7
The undefeated Panthers would welcome in the Russell Red Devils in what most people thought would beanother good game.
The good game that everyone thought it would be, would be much like the Johnson Central/Belfry situation, alopsided one. The Panthers would roll to a 35-7 and to an undefeated 10-0 final regular season before heading into the playoffs.
Pikeville improves to 10-0 and willhost Nicholas County in the first round of the KHAA Class 1A Playoffs.
Russell falls to 8-2 and will host Western Hills in the first round of the KHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
